I was in the same boat this weekend... my hubby views camping as a time to buy all the junk/convenience food I don't usually allow. :) Planning is so key!

Thanks everyone! I did make my family partake in some hiking excursions, I packed some fresh fruit and veggies, I didn't eat any s'mores (primarily because I didn't want too!), and I did find a way to make a pizza pudgie pie relatively low calorie! Thanks for all the great suggestions!

Plan ahead. You know what's going to be there, include some treats in your plan, but have things in place. You don't have to live on carrot sticks while everyone else eat smores, but that doesn't mean you need to eat half the package of graham crackers, either!

I would try to focus on moderation rather then depriving yourself. One weekend is not going to have a huge impact on your weight in the long run. Remember it takes an extra 3500 calories to gain a pound. I have never been camping but a suggestion would be if you have a burger pair it with some veggies and fruit rather then chips. Don't skip meals to set yourself up to get too hungry and then make poor choices. If you want some dessert watch the portions and stick to one choice.

Could you ask a family member hike with you after every meal? Could you make a pact with yourself to enjoy what you have brought and leave others to enjoy their belongings?

In colorado, "camping" tends to mean hiking, walking to the fish lake, walking around at sunset, etc.

One stratedgy is not to worry about your food, but activly add your exercise. Go uphill for 2 hours, you'll burn off anything you could have eaten. ;-) even fishing is lots of exercise, if you are fly fishing. (if you are me, it's just putting the poll in the water.....)

I'm going camping this weekend. Camping has kind of been synonymous with food in my family. I am hoping that I can stay on track this weekend!!!! I cut up a bunch of veggies and fruit for easy access, but I'm worried about all the pudgie pies, and smores! What do you eat when you go camping to stay on track?
