October 5, I plateaued this summer. I decided today to start a campaign at the GFA site to raise money for street children in India. I am donating $10 for every pound I lose. My starting weight for the campaign is 160, July 1, 2013. I have lost 40 lbs. since I started Sparkpeople six years ago. That is good but very slow. I hope to break my comfortable here mind set, speed up my weight loss, and go farther in losing weight than I would have originally dreamed.
The garden is doing well - acorn squash, peppers, various tomatoes, green beans, eggplants, corn, zucchini, and 3 sunflowers from last year's plants. I am on mile 744 of the Walk to Rivendell challenge. Weight today 161.5
I looked back over 2012, the year I complained to myself that all my walking was not working. I see, by checking at least one day per week, that I was tracking my food very infrequently. Often when I did, there was too much bread. Sometimes I was over my limit. Sometimes I only tracked breakfast and lunch. Where did that get me. No where. When I joined the 2013 5% Winter to Spring Challenge, I began to track my food with some consistency. Results: I lost the 5.5 lbs in the 8 week challenge and 0.5 in the in between challenges weeks. Old habits die hard, but toast and coffee for breakfast is dead. I still use the Brownberry mulitgrain pockets for lunch or a slimwich. I think I was suffering from wheat belly and general lack of attention to the details of what I ate.
I started 2013 at 173 lbs and joined the Official January Jumpstart Challenge. I got moving, lost a couple of pounds, and won the Spark Cookbook, By February I was making excuses to not do the videos anymore. Then I found the 2013 5% Winter to Spring Challenge. My weigh in (2/23) was 171. Week 1 (3/2): 170 Week 2 (3/9): 169 Week 3 (3/16): 169 Week 4 (3/23): 168 Week 5 (3/30): 167.5 Week 6 (4/6): 167.5 Week 7 (4/13): 168.0 Week 8 (4/20): 165.5
In between challenges: 4/27 - 165.0 5/4 - 165.0 I'm a slow loser even though I walk a lot of miles and stay under 1500 calories ( that's all healthy food choices.) Still I'm proud that I lost 5.5 lbs in the 8 week challenge.
It's a beautiful Saturday morning here. We planted the gardens yesterday. I joined the 2013 Winter to Spring 5% Challenge. While I did not make it to 5%, I lost weight with only a couple of plateaus. Now I am in the 2013 Spring to Summer 5% Challenge. This is the first weigh in and I lost one pound.
Where have I been? The time flew by while I was painting and working in the yard. My updated stats are: 10/21 - 3.6 miles 10/22 - 5.8 miles 10/24 - 1.4 miles 10/25 - 4.2 miles 10/27 - 1 mile This week 16 miles
4/20 - 5.4 miles 4/21 - 7.86 So, for the week, 13.26
4/22 - 3.76 4/26 - 1.57 4/27 - 1.94 4/28 - 0.44 I took a bad fall bypassing some garbage cans lined across the sidewalk. I didn't notice the small cement curb built into the driveway. I'm not sure if I'll be back out today. So, for the week 7.71
I'm not doing well on consistency here. My weight has actually gone up instead of down. I think it may be because I gave up coffee and ha ve been getting all my water's in. I might have been dehydrated before. I feel really good about the water. This has been hard for me for years.
Oops, I skipped journaling yesterday, but actually got in two walks. The first was 3.76 miles and the second was 4.1. Today, I walked to the library and back with a stop for a bean burrito as a reward. I have figured out a short walk I can repeat several times a day to keep me from taking fast food rest breaks. This should save calories and dollars. Will give it a try Monday to see if I can get 5 miles in that way.
I am 56 miles into walking and decided that I should make some notes on my progress. Today I walked to the Coop and had a toasted nut coffee and oat bran muffin. Total 5.4 miles. It did not seem as hard as last night's walk to the library and back which was only 4 miles total. Perhaps it is because I walked in the morning.
