I wish there was a live chat. Sometimes, I just need someone to run something by right at that particular moment when I have a question or need some encouragement. But then, it could turn out like the chats on the weight watcher website when I did that many years ago and it was all about people's kids or jobs, hair, etc., and there were very few people who wanted to chat about weight loss.

Short term goals:

Weigh less than 200 lbs. by summer!

Hi Dot -- the action on the "main" boards waxes and wanes -- try finding an active SparkTeam that interests you and try posting there. It's a little easier to get to know individuals that way, and develop a rapport.

I think the boards are maybe not as easy to use as those on some other sites. I like SP as a whole, but the message boards could use a re-charge. I've noted some positive changes in other areas lately, so hopefully they'll think about retooling the boards as well. Seems like the idea of individuals supporting each others' efforts is pretty central to the SP philosophy...

Starting Weight: 268 lbs. (November 2010)
Quasi-Maintenance: 165 lbs. (June 2011)
Goal Weight: 150 lbs. (reached December 8, 2011)

Size 22W to Size 4

Currently maintaining within 5 lbs. (+ or -) of goal. I weigh daily, but also use a tape measure and the fit of my clothes to guage how well I'm doing.

Sorry it seems to be slow for you. I think different times of the year it may be busier. Also, I check in frequently throughout the day since I have some members we email back and forth daily on here. You might try connecting that way to keep more of a dialogue going if you like frequent contact. The more friends you have the more opportunity to connect or to find a chatty person. He he!

I feel the same way. The boards read last post and a more active forum is brought about by people taking the time to read and respond. Truly, here I think it is all about posting to get your points. I've responded to a few people with personal emails and some have been very kind in responding.

I know what you mean. Some of the teams are active. Maybe you can find one with common interests.

other than checking in with 4 or 5 of my teams everyday, I also check this message board, the fitness board, and the diet/nutrition board.

it can be difficult to find anything with much participation. Just keep trying to get something going.

hi Dot, sorry you're having that problem. Whenever I post a topic, it usually gets a reply pretty quick. I know for me, I have a desk job and I have to sit at a computer all day, and business has been pretty slow, so I get to play around on the internet. Have a great day.

I joined three years ago.

Over those years, I had to adjust my actions on and expectations of the site. This depended on my schedule and where I was in my life style change.

Join some groups. Find an exercise Spark buddy or group where you live or who holds your interests.

You'll start clicking with some and then decide where to go from there.

BUT - I was hoping there would be a more active forum. I thought chatting with others trying to loose weight would be good but the responses here seem kind of slow. You really don't need to log on more than once a day for a few minutes.
