It all depends on how I'm feeling. If I'm feeling alright, I may not workout-workout, but I will dance for 10-20 min to some fast-paced good music! :) It's not much, but it's better than nothing. Also...AVOID THE SCALE....water weight is depressing, yet inevitable in most cases. If you DO get the pseudo-pregnancy cravings I do, reach for some fat-free pringles, but stick to the portion size. Same with most flavors of goldfish are 50 or so pieces for under 150 calories usually. My ultimate weakness is cheesey goodness on my period - so I eat two pieces of low fat/part skim string cheese. Those help me if I really need a snack. If you're into sweets on your period, snag fat-free pudding if you're a chocolate fanatic or go for an orange...oranges are also really awesome, especially if they're sour.

I really only feel crampy and unwell the first day or two of my period. I scale back my exercise to something lighter or skip it entirely for those days. I do try not to eat junky food. Beyond those couple of days, my exercise and eating are pretty normal. I try not to stress about it.

Since I started on the pill, I can "schedule" the day where I know I'll feel the worst, which is the day things actually get started down there. I have it scheduled for Sundays. I already relax and veg out on Sundays most of the time, so this just worked it's way into that. I still have the food craving issues so I try to work things in on that day that will help me get over it... like buy a single cookie at the store, or something like that.
Going on the pill changed my life when it came to my "lady time" as I like to call it. It used to put me down for at least 3-4 days, now I just feel sort of crappy and crampy on that one day. I wish I had gone on it much earlier on in life! If it's an option for you, definitely look into it.
The last time it was "that time" for me, I had to practically be dragged to the gym, the whole time complaining that "whoever said exercise lessens your cramps is a liar, or someone that doesn't understand". I did my workout to the best of my ability - and at the end of it said "oh, I actually do feel better now that I've exercised".
It was really hard to get my feet out the door, but I can honestly say I felt better and more energized afterwards. I usually give myself a day off on day 1 (when I'm the most tired/in pain/etc), but day 2 and on I do what I can.
Do something everyday that your future self will thank you for.

So I know from experience that light/moderate exercise actually helps my cramps so that motivates me to go work out. As for food, I *don't* keep junk around the house but once a month I give myself $5 to spend on cupcake/coldstone ice cream/etc. But the rule is that it cannot come back home with me.

So..it's that time of the month.
I feel like crap. I always seem to be super crampy and exhausted during this time. I just can't seem to motivate myself to workout today.
How do you ladies motivate yourself to be healthy and eat right and all that even when experiencing P Symptoms. Now, keep in mind, I'm not talking to those lucky gals who have 0 symptoms. Yes, I know they exist. I am not one of them. :P
