You don't happen to live in a state with medical or now legal marijuana do you? It has been clinically proven repeatedly that marijuana helps stimulate appetite. If you live in one of those states, you might talk to a doctor about getting a prescription.

I am a Co-Moderator of the Dealing with Depression Team, over which there are well in excess of 900,000 members. One thing that a number of them have said is that they have had to try a variety of anti-depressants until they get one (or a combination) that helps them with their moods/anxiety/obsessions etc., and doesn't leave them with unpleasant side-effects. My late husband had been on a number (OCD) and the only reason he was changed is to get stronger ones that worked better for him. I have been on a number and never had any side-effects. The only reason I was changed was to see if they were the cause of my continuing weight-gain. They weren't!
Congratulations on not having smoked since November. That in itself is a major achievement :-)

Thanks for the input, folks. I used to be on antidepressants when I was in high school, but I really don't like them or how they make me feel. I feel super bland...like vanilla when I'm on them. I'm not as sad, I guess, but I'm not really anything. I don't smoke pot anymore, and haven't since November. It seems to be pretty day to day right now, so I don't think I'm going to seek out therapy just yet. Thanks again though for the support.

It sounds to me like you could do with the input of a Therapist to help you with Depression and to help you to prevent the Eating Disorders returning. Also, you say you smoked a lot of pot and this can impact on mood and appetite quite a bit, so you really need Therapy to help. If you don't have one, then I strongly suggest that you talk with your Dr about what has happened how it is affecting you. Mention the ED past, as ask for that Therapist referral. It may be that some medication may be helpful for the short-term, too!

if you can eat nuts they are a healthy way of adding calories and other nutrients to ones daily deal and it doesn't take many to add up the calories in general, just watch the sodium side of things as they can be salt dense.
Also having "full fat" items over the "low fat" items can help you increase your calorie intake to degrees
Packing a more dense bread can also help add in the calories - Rye bread can be good for this as can some of the 12 grain ones.
Also having a small portion at these dinners you are at will not hurt if you take it into consideration for what you are doing and where you are at in general - yes they might use full fat butter, so what the amount you are getting on the "carrots" isn't that much really so add an extra 2g to 5g of fat to you calculations for that item. Sounds like eating a small amount of what they have on offer might actually help you get into range.
I've got my own issue of under eating its not uncommon for me to not hit the 1200 mark day in and day out for weeks on end and my min intake is 1600+ so I'm way off my own mark (and I can't touch nuts to help me gain it that way or a lot of other options, hence my own issue getting what I need most days of the week).

I'm having trouble with it! Part of it is that I'm going through a nasty breakup right now, so the depression has my appetite way down. But the other part of it is that I host dinners 1-4 nights a week for my job. These are big family style dinners with lots of home-cooked type food. The other staff usually eat the dinner in the kitchen, but I've passed it up so far for my own packed dinners. I've seen the recipes, they may be carrots but I know a stick of butter was melted on top of them.... Problem is when I'm eating my normal breakfast (oatmeal dressed up different ways) and lunch (usually a sandwich, sometimes leftovers) and then a packed dinner, I'm only ending up at 900-1000 calories when my minimum is 1200.
This morning was bad because I was feeling especially down and not hungry, so all I had was a mandarin orange and string cheese, something like 70 calories. Bad. Bad bad bad. But I just can't bring myself to eat, food doesn't appeal to me right now. I've had struggles in the past (long ago, nearly 8 years) with eating disorders, but this feels different. I'm not eating because I plain don't feel like it, not because I don't want to. I feel guilty at the end of the day when I haven't met my minimum calorie and nutrient goals.
This wasn't ever an issue when I was in the relationship I was in because, to be totally honest, we smoked a lot of pot and had a fast food taco Tuesday every week. I never worried about eating, and quite frankly, ate too much a lot of the time. I haven't smoked pot in almost 3 months, though, and my appetite is suffering with this depression.
Ugh, I don't know what to do, I'm just really frustrated right now. Like I said, I WANT to be eating more, I just am totally not interested in food right now. Any ideas for calorie dense (healthy, please) foods that would help boost my calorie intake without making me feel like I have to eat a ton of something? I was thinking about picking up some almonds tomorrow to see if that helps.
