Thanks to both of you for the advice! I enjoy hiking/being outside so many going on some jogs would be good. @ Martha Those seem like very doable changes. :)

when I started I started small with a commitment to track my food, stay at my calorie goal (which I set pretty high), choose healthy foods more times than not and to move every day. That could be and was extra walking. I recommend that you buy a pedometer and just see how many steps in a day you take and work up to getting at least 10,000 day. Walking can be fit in to every day and you can get your walks in smaller units, like 10 - 15 minutes. Focus on eating healthy and moving first to get yourself back on track.
I'd recommend trying to find some exercises and activities that you enjoy doing so that you are more likely to continue doing them. If you absolutely don't like a particular exercise, you are less likely to do it over time. So try finding something that you like to do.

Hey there. I have fallen off the wagon since last summer. I've gained 25 pounds. That much weight gain in less than a year is freaking me out! But more important that anything else, I want to get back into a fitness routine in order to feel healthier. I tend to go overboard and get obsessive and manic, which I think was my problem last time. (I ended up being underweight, which I think is somewhat apparent in my old profile picture. I realized I took it a bit far)
So I would love for the ol' pros to give a possible beginner plan that maybe they followed when they first started out. I know this is all subjective, but I am curious about everyone's experiences and what has (or hasn't) worked for them. Any tips, tricks, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!
