You have gained some water weight over night. That is normal. If I eat cheese or drink milk in the evening I wake up swelled and sometimes weigh 5 pounds more than the last time I weighed myself. The scale is not the judge of your success or a tool to measure failure by. The scale shows you a number that is all it is. Don't weight yourself constantly. Once a week is good. If you are bothered by the scale numbers and discouraged when it doesn't show loss, don't use the scale. Your clothes getting looser is a better judge of success. Do body measurements once a month. Don't give up or be discouraged by that old scale. Many successes. Georgie
Try to stay off the scale and do body measurements once per week. You will notice loose clothing before you see the scale move significantly. Best of luck

That is why I average my weight, using a moving average.
I take the last 'x' number of days; add them together and divide by the number of days - it gives a running average. I have it in a spreadsheet.
So, while I weigh and record daily; I don't obsess over one day to the next, because I realize the body fluctuates, based on many things. It's only one form of measurement

I have a lot of weight to lose and stay away from the scale for that reason, a lb or so gain make me feel fustrated even if I didn't overeat. I weigh about every two weeks to "keep in check" but mostly go by how my clothes feel. if they are somewhat snug, I know to tweak my diet some. When they feel looser, Motivated!
maybe you drank some water.... of course our bodies fluctuate all day long... and my digital scale has a memory if I weigh my self close together it says same weight instead of fluctuations but overnight is enough time to reset itself it seems

I agree w/ what the others said... our bodies can fluctuate day to day. Example, 3 days ago, I weighed 141. Today 139. I was 139.5 at the end of last week. I guarantee you I didn't gain then lose 2 lbs of actual weight in the span of a week.
One thing I do that helps though, is track sodium. Sometimes when I have an unexplained gain, I can usually look back to the day before and sure enough, my sodium was high that day. It's especially bad if I ate out or had alcohol, especially beer, even if I was within my calorie range.
Also, once you're at it awhile, you'll get more in touch with your bodies fluctuations. I tend to eat out and drink more on weekends, so I am always geared up for a higher weigh in on Monday. Also during my "lady time" I gain as much as 5lbs on the scale.

This is perfectly normal. Our weight is not a static number, rather it's a vital sign, just like your body temperature or blood pressure. Depending on the foods you eat, the things you drink, sleep, hormonal shifts, even the temperature outside, your weight will fluctuate as much as 10 lb in a single 24 hour period!
This doesn't mean you're gaining fat, or doing something wrong. This is one reason it's recommended to weigh about once a week, on the same day, under the same circumstances, wearing the same clothes (or none at all.) Most people find they weigh the least first thing in the morning, before breakfast, after going to the bathroom.
Don't stress. You had fluctuations when you were on Atkins, you just likely didn't notice them. ;) We all have them!

Your body simply does not work that way. You would have had to eaten an *extra* 3,500 calories on top of what you burned for the day. Even sedentary people burn more than 1,000 calories a day, which varies based on sex, weight and body composition.
Also, fat storage does not happen immediately. Simple carbs generally circulate 24 hours and complex carbs 48 hours if not put to use before being converted to fat for storage.
As mention, weight fluctuates greatly with water, which makes up about 60% of your body weight. You can dehydrate yourself or not eat carbs to "lose" weight. Or you can eat a lot of carbs and salt and "gain" weight. In either case, you are not losing or gaining fat.
As others have mentioned, don't weigh yourself as often or give yourself a 5-pound range. Focus more on body composition and measurements, which give a more accurate picture of your health and fitness levels.

my weight varies during the month. i have a goal "range" instead of an actual number. . if it stresses you out, try not to weigh yourself daily.

I weigh every day right after getting out of bed and going to the bathroom. Use a spreadsheet where each line is one week and I have columns for each day of the week, as well as for the minimum, maximum, and average.
Individual days go up and then back down a little but as long as the general trend is losing a little each week, I feel it's going well.
THis could be your body retaining water (common when you start a new plan) or waste and such in your body that will be expelled. Most places (Spark being one of them) don't recommend you weight yourself daily for this reason. Your weight can fluctuate 5 pounds in a single day. All from normal occurences, not from bad eating or anything else.

Gained a pound overnight. This frustration has sent me spiraling in the past. Looked over my food for yesterday and didn't see anything terrible. Maybe needed to have had more water. Never had this up and down stuff with Adkins...but couldn't stay on Adkins long term. Ideas????
