ohhh, Also I have been VERY active. I am putting in new marble flooring + painting + installing Container Store closets (3) + and putting in a new marble I have been very active and I know this also made me feel like I was 'crashing'. So, ACTIVITY and diet are very key. This is such a sharp group. Thank you everyone for responding. And Happy New Year.

Everybody has been so great responding to this post!!! I am a type 2. 87 is low for me because I wake up with a Glucose of 160. As I drink 8/8 water and eat correctly my Glucose lowers. I need to document more low readings (in the 80's) and in a couple months when I go for a followup my doctor WILL lower my med dosage.

Everyone here asks such great questions. I did eat a healthy breakfast. Please reply and I will look up that day's breakfast. That is not a problem. My lunch should be posted on this board/blog. You guys are wonderful...someone actually read my Blog and I'm so happy.

Each person's body is different. I am not diabetic and my sugar level can be in the 70's and I am fine. My DH IS diabetic, and that same level would have him shaking and needing some carbs. So really 87 could be not low, if you're not diabetic, but low if you are.

Exercise also affects your sugar level; you didn't mention whether you were more active than usual, before the crash.

each persons body is different. 87 is not low. I normally run around that number after I have eaten. My hpyoglycemia runs that way for me. I eat a ton of carrots and that seems to help. I love carrots so that's ok.

Just wanted to add that I'm not diabetic but can't drink (or eat) caffeine containing items because I get a light headed, hypoglycemic feeling as well. Since we don't know what you ate at those meals, you could always consider switching to decaf coffee.

If hunger isn't the problem, food is not the answer.

87 is not considered low. Usually below 70 is. BUT---if you are not used to it being 87, you can still have symptoms of crashing. Been there! What did you eat for breakfast and Lunch? Could your symptoms been from too much caffeine? emoticon
You should always pair a carb with a protein too.

What did you have in your breakfast and lunch? I would look there before blaming the coffee, unless you had sugar in your coffee, or you were actually reacting to caffeine.

For those of you who control your glucose with carbs....

Carrots have the added benefit of some sugar and some complex carbs. This seems like a way better idea than something that is just raisins.

Good to know...carrots work great and they have a nice 'crunch'.

I do well until late in the day before dinner and then I have a banana that keeps me happy. If that doesn't work I eat carrots until dinner. They keep me chewing and one goes a long way.

I ate a VERY HEALTHY breakfast and lunch today. But I had about 3 cups of coffee (and 2 glasses of cold water) with lunch which I rarely have since SPARKING. About 2 hours after lunch sugar CRASHED to about 87 and had to eat about 7 pieces of chocolate raisins along with 2 glasses of cold water. !!! I suggest if anyone has this problem they GOOGLE SEARCH on Sparks 'GLUCOSE CRASHING'. There is a great article in Wikipedia to explain in detail about 'CRASHING'. THIS MIGHT HELP OTHER DIABETICS.
