It's no big deal. Go for 15 minutes and rest. If you can go a little longer after resting, then do it. If you can't, then don't worry about it yet. Do what you can and over the next couple of weeks your stamina will increase.
Well, we get out of shape over time, we also need time to get back into shape. Don't be hard on yourself. It sounds like you are listening to your body and stopping when you need to. It doesn't matter if you stop to rest in terms of losing weight or working on cardio.
Keep up the good work! It WILL pay off!

Please don't beat yourself up!!! In 2006 I weighed the least I ever weighed...20lbs more in 2009 I was a competitive dancer and figure skater...2012..highest weight ever been after stressful job, car accident, and wedding lol....I got back into it in Sept.
First day: 6 min nearly killed me on elliptical..did 25 on treadmill no incline just 3.2 speed Week 2 I had gotten to 10 min ellip and 30 min tread and 15 bike
A month later...literally I can do any or combinations of 30 min elliptical, 60 min tread on incline from 2-6 with speed of 3.6, and bike at level 3 with inclines and resistance. Along with weight training I just added this week.
2006 I could do an hr on elliptical (would watch a show)...that machine is my nemesis but I have come to find I LOVE the treadmill even more now than I did back then.
Aim for just 20-30 seconds more each time just like when cutting time for a race. It can be done!!!
I think you are doing awesome.. do you know how many people do not move their bodies at all. You can do it for 15 minutes without stopping good for you!

Don't beat yourself up !! Today you do 15 minutes, next week you do 20 minutes. your strength and endurance will increase with TIME. You will get stronger, but you have to give your body time to adapt. Change takes time, thus the need to be patient.
If you need to take breaks, that's okay. take breaks when you need them. You have to start somewhere. The person who decides to run a 26.2 mile marathon doesn't start by running 25 miles the first day. they start with the first mile.
If you're looking for ways to increase your stamina and endurance, take a daily walk. If you can only walk for 10-15mins, that's okay too. You can break your workouts up into shorter segments and still get all the benefits. Taking a 10 minute walk three times a day still adds up to 30 minutes.
Why not try that ? Why not try breaking your workouts up into shorter segments spaced through the day. You may find that less frustrating than trying to do 30+ minutes.

Don't worry if you have to rest after 15 minutes. Keep it up and you will build stamina. It's much better to work for 15 minutes than not at all! Consistency is what's most important.

I friend of mine who is a personal trainer just texted me to tell me Slow, steady and consistancy is the best way to build the stamina and she thinks that I am doing well. I just want to do more!
Definitely! Some people seem to be able to start cardio exercise and take to it really well and just go! I am not one of those people. I build cardio ability at a terribly slow pace and if I stop, it disappears... it's rough. I am jealous of people who can go for hours and don't feel like they're going to die after a few minutes. But to be honest, because I don't take to it well, I also don't try that hard and put the vast majority of my effort into things that I can do well (strength training in my case), which is not ideal. If I were giving myself advice, I'd say to be patient and stick with it and eventually it should get better!

don't worry about it. The very first time I worked out, I blacked out after 3 minutes. It took me a long time to get over 5-10 minutes without stopping, but I took a class and I'd challenge myself to not be the first person to stop. Don't remember how long that took but it did happen.
That was 12 years ago. On Sunday, I'll be running my 7th marathon, running for 4+ hours without a break. Just to show you how far a person can come.

I have been pretty good the last week about walking or doing some type of activity every day to get moving. I am just so frustrated that I cant do aerobics etc for more than 15 minutes without having to stop for a couple mins. I know that the stamina will come in time but I want to do more. Now that I have finally gotten myself moving after years of being sedentary I want to gogogogo! ever feel like this?
