Yep- Just started tracking them.... I am between 1350-1550 kcal a day and burn at least 500 4-6 days a week exercising.
Le sigh.... it will come together. :)

How are your calories? Do you track them to see how much you're eating? We can't outexercise a bad diet. Conversely if you're working out a lot then you need to eat to lose. It's a weird balance that we need to find. If you don't track then I'd suggest doing it diligently for a few weeks just see where you may be. Spark's recommended ranges usually are a good gauge of where you should be.

I'm not sure how long you've had that 6 pound gain but a lot is probably water. Muscle, too, if you've been working out for awhile (takes a little while to gain muscle).

Eating well and working out is helping you have a healthy body - keep that in mind.

HMALCOLM13,

Hang in there and give it some more time. For many of us, the results of your hard work may take up to 8 weeks to show up on the scale, but that doesn't mean the changes aren't happening.

It isn't uncommon to see a slight upward shift in weight when we start exercising, or add a new training regimen and eating better. For one the muscles are making more mitochondria which allow for extra glycogen-stored glucose in the cells- therefore, your body hangs on to more water to help with the cooling off process for exercise and for helping process energy. Your muscles will also have an increase in blood volume in order to have better availability to oxygen and removing waste, especially lactic acid. These things coupled with eating higher fiber foods, such as fruits and veggies can show a gain, when in all reality it is just a shift in fluids.

Hang in there and know that you are changing your body “TRUST THE PROCESS"

I hope this helps!

Coach Nancy

LoL I thought of that too but it sounds like a lot of muscle weight to put on so quickly.... I'm just complaining I suppose. Thanks for the pep up though!

Just an uneducated guess (lol), but perhaps you're gaining muscle faster than you're losing fat? If you're looking leaner but still seeing high numbers, that's all I can think of since muscle weighs more.

:) Thank you. I don't pay for the gym because the Army base we live on has about 4 of them for us to use free of charge. I love the treadmills and the elliptical. I started going to jog the good ol' fashioned track too... let's see if it works.

The way I lose weight? I walk. sometimes briskly but I walk none the less, as I don't have the money for a gym. Well, I do? I choose not to waste my money when I can walk off my weight. That is just my opinion only. Hope it might help you.

I don't know, sometimes? I think that the gyn=m's are over rated as my HS coach didn't like them. He made us run or walk all the time. I have kept that up, and I am at 50 years of age now.

P.S. Don't Panic. That will only make it worse for you. Trust me. Been there, Done that.

I have been hitting the gym HARD for a month now- 4-6 times a week with 30 min cardio and 30 minutes weight training. I am NOT losing any weight!!!!!! I have actually GAINED almost 5 lbs though I have modified my diet to 1600 calories of high quality lean proteins, complex carbs, no sweets, performance supplements, fat burners, you NAME it. I started at 181 and now I am 187. My body is looking leaner but the scale is climbing!
Any ideas???????
