I've lost 40 pounds and gone down 2-3 sizes. I'll go ahead and say 3 sizes. I went from a tight 16/ some 18s to a comfortable size 12. There is a bigger difference in bigger sizes than there are in smaller sizes. I hope to lose 25 pounds and go down 2 more sizes.

For me, it's been about 20 pounds. I started as an 18-20 (short). Now that I have lost 40 pounds, I wear a 14-16 (petite), depending on the brand and style. My goal is to wear a 12 petite.

When I went from size 24-20 it seemed about 25lb, then going from 20-10, it was on average 17lbs. I've gone back up about 40lbs, and two sizes. I am a 14 at 195-200lbs.

Losing 10 didn't take me to a new size, but made the size I am in fit much better. So I'd say 10 to 12 pounds. Can't wait for that to happen again.

@ Jennifer, I think That size differnce is coming, sometimes i weight loss the first few pounds in lost in the face and some water weight, then by the 15th pound, it coes off the abs, thighs and rear. After I had my son it seemed like it took about 16 lbs before I noticed a size difference in my jeans, then after that it only took another 8 lbs to see another size down. I lost 40lbs but am only down 2-3 sizes. I started at a 14 or 16 (ie I was wearing 14s but probably should have been wearing 16s), and I wear a pretty solid 10 now. I can wear mediums in some tops now, whereas before it was L or XL. A lot of my weight lost came from my upper arms, my face, my lower legs and around my middle area, so that would make sense. I still have wider hips, thicker thighs, plenty of junk in the trunk and my chest is still pretty much the same size.

This depends on the style, cut and brand of clothing. Sizes aren't regulated, so I have different brands of jeans in the same size that all fit different.
This also depends on where you are carrying the weight. All my pants look too big because my thighs are toned & pants look baggy, but my hips just fit comfortably in the 12s. Also my shirts are big around the shoulders and just right around the hips.

Depends, when I was bigger it was 20-30 but now that I'm small, if I even lose 5 pounds I can go down a size...But that's to a 00 so I'd like to stay where I am!
It must depend on how big you are to begin with. My starting weight was 328, yikes! I have lost 50, and I am still wearing the same "size." However, I'm at the lower register of the size rather than the higher, and several things fit well, while I couldn't even breathe in them before. I figure another 20, and I'll drop a true size.

For one thing, sizing is so poorly regulated, one style might be one size and a different style even in the same brand the size can be totally different. So basing things on size is an exercise in futility.
That said, it depends on how toned I am. I can not lose any weight and lose a size if I have been lifting weights and toning my core, I can gain a size of my core is flabby.

I have heard many women say for them 8 pounds lost is 1 size down, and then I have heard others say it's as much as 16 lbs. My special K box had advertised "lose 6 lbs and lose a jean size" and they mention doing that in 2 weeks.
I was wondering what your expirience has been. For me it seems about 12 lbs lost is one size down.
