Spark Coach is a really great resource for getting into SparkPeople. Definitely do your check-ins every day. It will help motivate you, teach you, and get you tracking (and you should definitely be tracking your food and exercise!). Beyond that, setting up a SparkPage and joining SparkTeams is a huge help. It allows you to meet people with common interests and goals, share your progress, get advice on struggles, be motivated and stay accountable.
SparkPeople is a really great place to be for achieving your goals, no matter what they are. Welcome and good luck!
