I use my scale CONSTANTLY. My scale in conjunction with the Nutrition Tracker have been "The" two biggest influencing factors on my success.
Pretty often, I just put my bowl or plate on the scale, set the tare weight to 0, add first ingredient, take note of weight. Tare. Add 2nd ingredient, note. Tare. Add 3rd ingredient. Etc. It's easier, less mess than fiddling with measuring cups/spoons, accurate, and ever so helpful in reconnecting with Portion Size.
Yes! I even use it to measure tsp and Tbls --- I have found that with things like jams/jellies a Tablespoon is not always what I think it is. I like to have my vitalicious bun (english muffin) lightly toasted with sugar free peach preserves for breakfast. I found that if I just measure a Tablespoon of preserves it actually weighs MORE than what the service size should be. So I lay my Tablespoon measuring spoon on my scale (empty) then use a regular spoon to put the preserves in the measuring spoon until I have the correct grams or ounces. I measure everything, even though I can usually estimate a serving and be very close, I still prefer to measure. I could not live without my scale!

I bought a nice little digital food scale that wasn't too expensive. I think I'll enjoy using it! I bought it as a reward for losing 20 pounds and also in hopes it will spur me on to lose the other 63 I want to lose:)

I bought a really nice digital scale that I use for all new foods. After using it on a food for a while I can tell how 2 oz. of cheese looks without weighing it. Once in a while I will re-weigh again just to make sure my size has not increased a bit at a time :)
I use a scale to avoid "eye-balling" my portions because I have a tendency to do exactly that.

I ALWAYS weigh ALL of my food and enter it into the Nutrition Tracker. I have done this for years.
Get a digital set that weighs in grams as well as oz., and also that weigh in single grams, AND has a fairly high tare weight. Mine is 5kg - you can get ones that weigh heavier stuff, but there are a lot that only weight up to 1 or 2 kg - and that can be rather annoying - especially if you bulk cook!
As a tip - ALWAYS have spare batteries on hand because when they go flat, they do very quickly.

Obsessively. I'm better at estimating portions now, so I only use it for new items. But it was a hugely eye-opening experience at first.

I bought one and it was huge in showing me accurate portions. After a few months I got used to eyeballing portion size and didn't need it anymore. Definitely a good investment.

Absolutely! I use scales, measuring cups, and measuring spoons. They are important tools that are contributing to my success. They are also enabling me to get a better understanding about how to eat well and eat the right amount of food, and they are essential as I log new recipes and track foods. Buy a good scale; you'll never regret it!

Yes! When I stop using my scale out of laziness or whatever is when I start to see my weight loss go from slow to non-existent. My scale, measuring cups, and measuring spoons are my lifeline when I'm dieting :)

YES! I actually didn't buy one until recently, but I love it! There are some things now that I can eyeball from using the scale, but other things I definitely still measure. Veggies are one thing I typically don't worry about... the more the merrier :)

Yes. I have no idea how you could get by without one, honestly.
Heck yeah I do! So many measurements here are in grams or ounces, and there are some foods where a single ounce can be a HUGE difference in calories. I would credit a big part of my success so far to measuring my food and identifying how many calories I'm actually eating.

Hey Sparklers! Just a question... Do you use a food scale to keep an accurate track of your food portions? I'm considering buying one as my 20 pound weight loss reward. I think it might be a good idea for better portion control for me.
