This is a part journal today.
A) It's food bank day. As the delivery guys are bringing in the food, our minds are hard at work trying to figure out what we will make the volunteers for lunch. When asked what's on the menu for today we always label it ___________ala surprise. Sometimes we hit a home run other times....well lets say "we should have ordered pizza".
It can be very challenging for someone receiving the food boxes to eat nutritionally and not all sugary/ carb items.
We are dependent on what the government is offering for sale that week & local merchants to supply left over items.
I run the food bank on Thursday at our location. I try to make sure that the boxes have 2 cans of vegetables, 2 cans of fruit, one cereal, one dinner item (noodles & sauce or mac & cheese )and one frozen meat item. Then we pack in the extra "selvage' items to fill it. I order apple/ orange juice when it is available and as the cash flow dictates.
The local bread place gives us enough bread to fill the back of the truck thank-goodness! So people usually walk away with all the bread items they can carry (which is a carb loaded diet) and the local supermarkets give us a truck load too. That's where we get our fresh vegetables and dairy items. It is a blessing to not have to worry about food and have it readily available to decide what we will eat for the day/meal. It is a blessing to be able to go to the supermarket, get a buggy and toss in the organic, whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables. The next time you do this, be thank full you can.
Now on to my second part:
How long after sparking does it take for the energy level to increase? I have been on it for one week and I feel like I could go out and run (even though I can't r/t knees) but you get the idea!
Going to look for swimming classes at the nearby community center later today.
Have a blessed day!!
