I don't know if it's new or not, I live in Sweden now and have been out of the US for 6 years. My gym has had it since I started though. The motion is more like ice skating than cross country skiing. I mean, it does help build the muscles for both, but from being an avid skiier, I would say the movement is certainly different, unless you were going up hill the whole time. I don't know of anything that burns that amount of calories though, outside of running way faster than I am capable now. It keeps my heart rate between 85-90% and when I am done, boy am I done.

Oh wow!! That's actually cool. I'd probably be the one smiling (though sweat and tears lol!) because I love to ski. Is it new?

OK I watched the youtube video. It actually mimic's downhill skiing motion. (long carving turns not short turns)

Bottom line is that it is just cardio. At the level most people are at treadmill, rowing, biking, elliptical, swimming, cardio wave can all stretch your heart and lungs if used correctly.

It's called the Cardio Wave and it's by Techno Gym. The You Tube videos--all of the folks using it are smiling--I don't get that at all. I hve never seen anyone ever smile while using it. I personally cringe, cry, and sweat--actually, I break out in a sweat just knowing that I have to spend 30 minutes with it this evening... less than 3.5 hours from now. Fear.

Has anyone used this torture device? I fight with it twice a week, just to show it that it doesn't intimidate me. I started with just a few minutes at a time, but have built up a tolerance to Satan's machine. I will say, outside of running--which I am not there yet, there is nothing else I do in the gym that gets the caloric response and gets the sweat pouring out of me like this. Has anyone tried it? Does it work for you?
