Two well fitting supportive sport bras that work for hi-impact exercise and new trail running shoes. Maybe a pair of compression tights if enough is left over. Right now I've got a set of dumbbells (3lbs - 15lbs), 3 kettlebells (8lbs, 20lbs, 15Kg) and a nice stationary bike but I'm doubling up on bras LOL.

@ Certhia - Yeah...I don't pull out the wool unless I'm going to be out in sub 40 degree weather. Usually a tech top+camping shirt is my base and then add either rain jacket or fleece jacket (but not both unless below 40 or so) depending on the situation. Kept me comfortable in the Rockies.

I'm a runner so I buy running shoes every 6 months and they generally cost me $150+ and I run outside, so I have to have the right clothes for each season, and I'm a little heavy chested so I need GOOD sports bras (last one I bought was an underarmour one for $80)... so I guess you could say the clothes are my fitness equipment!

I have inexpensive rain pants and jacket :) they are really nice for a stroll in the rain, but when hiking they will trap sweat and leave me soaked. (despite wearing wool undergarments and fleece.) And they tear easily! (my biggest issue with them!) We usually rough it quite a bit when out in the woods/mountains, so I could use some outer garments that can handle a beating and stay waterproof while still letting the steam out.

If I had an extra $200, I'd buy a set of personal training sessions. Those always motivate me more.

@Certhia - Have you heard of rain pants? They're basically like a rain jacket for your legs and add an extra layer during cold months too. At REI's end of season sale, I got a decent pair for $30.

It would really depend on what I needed when I go the money. But, it would probably be spent on clothes as I already have sufficient home equipment and lack space to acquire more of that. I always seem to need new running shoes.

I would buy hiking gear. New waterproof gore-tex boots (lighter and more breathable than the ones I have now), new high-tech pants and socks. And I could use a new jacket as well, but I am not sure 200 $ would stretch that far.

I love hiking, and would like to be able to have a longer season. Right now the weather is making it less appealing. I would love to be able to keep relatively warm and dry while wading in the woods and bushes. Right now I have the option to be drenched in either sweat or water.

Both are important.

But in terms of prioritizing, I think it helps to think about how and where you are working out.

If you are working out indoors, with a relatively stable temperature year round, then I'd say 5-7 pieces of clothing is plenty, and the next step should probably be equipment.

If you are an outdoor exerciser, then a broader range of exercise clothing is probably needed to cope with summer, winter, and spring/fall conditions. Layering existing clothing can help in cooler (but not cold) conditions, rather than having to buy seperate items for every season.

In terms of equipment, resistance bands are cheap ($10-20), versatile and portable, and make an excellent first purchase.

Following on from that would probably be dumbbells (adjustable ones are more expensive initially, but cheaper in the long run as they grow with you) , an exercise mat and a stability ball. You mention yoga, so perhaps the mat would be more useful.

I would love to have some fancy compression tights for running and a really lightweight beanie that covers my ears. With the rest of the money, I think I'd buy some new minimalist running shoes and Icebreakers socks.

Probably some dumbbells for the days I don't make it to the gym. Maybe a punching bag. Then again,clothes would be nice because I usually just wear old t-shirts when I exercise. The clothes that are designed for exercising do feel a lot better.

I have recently been buying cheap clearance priced tank tops and sports bras. I now have 5 new bras and 7 new tank tops and even a new pair of (Well actually used pair of ) pants.

all for under 30 dollars.

What I would like to ask is if you had 200 dollars to buy a new or used fitness piece or to be able to use the 200 for clothing. But just fitness clothing all summer or when ever you see something you need. What would you choose 1 piece of clothing.

If I had 200 I would buy some new stretchy clothing for yoga and some hats maybe a nice warm beanie and some gloves. What would you buy with the 200 and why?
