I agree with the previous poster that you'll want to get clearance from your doctor to exercise before starting any kind of routine. The link she provided is a good one. Here's also part 1 of a series of articles you might find helpful:

Have you checked with your doctor yet to get clearance and guidance on the kind of exercise safe for you to do?

I'm morbidly obese and I have mobility issues and I use a powerchair to get around outside. The only thing I can do is aquasize classes. I can't use a stationary bike, walking treadmill or any other typical exercises machines. Since I can't get down or up off the floor (only with assistance) I was hoping to use my bed to do simple leg raises, abdomen strengthening etc. I got on my bed, on all fours and the pain in the knees was horrible. It's discouraging as I really want to improve my overall fitness. I just had to realize the pool is the best place for me now.

If any of you share this similar issue, I would like to hear what forms of exercise works for you or if you had to modify exercises. Thanks
