Thank you all for the encouragement! It has been a week now and so far I am doing all right. I have been eating at the top of my calorie limit every day, but so far I havn't completely blown my diet. The weather here in Colorado is beautiful, I have been getting outside a little, hiking and jogging. I havn't lost any weight but my attitude is good and I look forward to another week of getting healthier. Good luck to everyone out there and keep on smiling!

I concur with the people below. Stay diligent and keep yourself in check with the different tools. Nobody sees the calories you eat or the amount of time you exercise. Stay true to yourself and keep up the tracking. You will find out for yourself which areas need more focus.

For us, it has really helped to consider this a lifestyle change. I've been on SparkPeople on and off since 2007 but every day is still a day when I have to choose whether to exercise or not, whether to eat healthy or not...
Many people here find it helpful to start slowly and make a couple things into good, solid habits (for example, tracking foods or exercise or drinking water). When those things are solid, then they add some more.
Explore the great tools here on SparkPeople and ask questions if you have any.
After you've gotten used to the tools, I would also encourage you to consider creating a SparkPage and writing a couple of blogs. It can be a great way to share your success and your struggles, and get specific feedback and support from people who can relate.

Hello to everyone. I am here because, obviously, I want to lose some weight. I am 24 and I have been overweight for almost 10 years. I weigh 180 right now, and it is the most I have ever been. I love food (especially junk food!) but I have never stayed on a diet for long. The most I have lost was 15 pounds last year before I got married, but it has all come back and more. I've decided I've had enough and I'm ready to make changes that will last my whole life. I look forward to sharing recipes and tips with everyone and I hope to join the millions of healthy people everwhere!
