I think we all feel like this, but what helps me is to take my journey 1 day at a time. Always have in your mind why you want to get/stay healthy and make sure you have a balanced day. If you know you have had one heavy meal make sure the rest of your choices that day are lighter. Remember there is nothing to fear because you are not healthy because you are lucky. You are healthy because you choose to be and you work hard at it. Think positively and remind yourself of all the hard work you have put in to get to where you are and I very much doubt you will want to give that up.

Even tho it is a life style for me and not a diet........yes I can relate to the fear of gaining all my weight back. I worry about it even when I eat right and workout.

Yes, of course myself and nearly every person that has ever been over their ideal wt. and cared about it at all can relate.

You are thinking right, you are in the right place and at the right time to change things about.

Spark is about the best thing since Mankind made the first cooking fire. Take it and use it and go as far as you really want to go. IMHO!

There isn't a person on SP that can't relate to what you feel, Curvy. But for me...it's that very fear that keeps me motivated. I'm in the 50 plus pile and at a point in my life where, if I fall back, it will be all the harder to get back on the weight loss wagon.

Over one year ago, I would never have done the 5k that I did in May...or the one in June. I would not have worn that swim suit in public, I would not have done a Polar Plunge. And there many more things I want to do in 2013 that I would not have been able to do because I would have been huffing and puffing...or just sitting on the sideline watching instead of doing.

I love SP and my SP buddies because they keep me motivated with their accomplishments. SP is more than a "diet". It's friends, motivation, helping hands, encouragement, support, and shoulders to lean on.

Yep and those fears are real. The reason most gain it back is because they don't stay true to changes and go back to old/bad eating habits. If you go back yes more than likely you will gain it all back and then some.

The key, this is a lifestyle change. Now it doesn't mean you can't eat some things that aren't super healthy, but you can't eat like that everyday ever again. It is a relatitvely simple concept but so so so hard to grasp and stay there.

Just the thought of me going back scares me, so I choose to stay focused on my goal. I have NO other alternative. 4 years in and I haven't gone back!

I think this time of year a lot of us are fearful about failing. Many of us have lost weight only to gain it all back and more! Sparkpeople looks like a great tool, and I plan to visit it often! I (finally) quit smoking using a similar site - Quitnet.com. It helps so much to have support!

I feel like everyone on this site can relate to you dear. Weight loss is a journey, you can't think of it like a straight shot end goal. It's a road with ups and downs but you just have to stay on it no matter what. One of the articles on the main page of Spark People talked about how motivation comes and goes every day and how you need to refresh it everyday to keep motivated. I've lost a total of 85 lbs as of now but that was not without much frustration and anger at times. Trust me though, the happiness and sheer pride in yourself makes it all worth it in the end. :) Keep doing you and best of luck in your future health!

I'm on the right track to losing weight and making healthy eating habits but my biggest fear is going back to my old habits and not losing weight. I've tried so hard to lose weight before only to get rid of 5 or so pounds and gaining it all back. Can anyone relate?
