I have a green smoothie almost everyday; its a great way to get at least 3 servings of greens in! I usually do a combination of the following:
kale, spinach and other greens (3-4 cups) water (1 cup) oranges or apples or bananas (for flavor and texture) flax seed (for healthy fat)
You can always add the protein powder; I get mine from some greek yogurt in the morning that I eat while I drink this.

I really like body fortress whey protein. it tastes good and is totally affordible. I mix it with water instead of milk when I am on the go for a quick snack/meal. The great part of making smooties you can add in anything you like.

Hey Labmom, I'm also looking to pick up some ideas since I got a Ninja blender for Christmas! I haven't used it yet, but I've read that it's a good one (certainly better than the $20 blender I am replacing).
I'd like to get ideas on making breakfast smoothies and what healthy add-ins to consider (wheat germ? whey protein?)

Want to start making smoothies for breakfast. I want to get some protein powder, can you recommend one? Not sure what's best to use for liquid, Greek yogurt, almond milk or fruit juice? Also any blender recommendations? I have a magic bullet knock off brand that isn't the greatest on chopping up the ice.
