Found back-to-back fast much easier than anticipated. Easier than day one. At times I felt euphoric. But i was busy and that helped. I found myself thinking about food a lot and half an hour before evening meal I cracked while cooking children's and had a tablespoon of chicken noodles. Surely that does not count? I lost 1/2lb after day three fast.

I am using this board to monitor my progress under the fast diet which I started for the first time last week.
I have been part of Sparkpeople for three years and have tried to control calories and exercise as recommended. Progress occurred but was slow: 10lbs in ten months! Then a crisis happened along with a thesis deadline and I decided to not exercise every day and allow myself to drink every day. Only three months later I had put on ten pounds. I was keen to throw it off but a n injury had me bedridden and then I became ill with an infection that had me in hospital. I was so weak I could hardly walk across a room. My cholesterol is too high, my blood sugar level nearly, but not quite, pre-diabetic. I was 5ft 2" and 170lbs. I have a disability. My father died of diabetes.
In August I started, for the first time, the Gi diet and I was very impressed with the results. I lost 10lbs in two months - a record speed for me and I was less hungry than usual.
Start weight 170lbs August 2013 157lbs October 2013 But during high days and holidays I found it difficult to keep to it. When visitors came I put 5lbs back on. Christmas was approaching. I was panicking all my hard work would be lost. I still remained UNCONVINCED about the Fast Diet. Three things swung me: 1. Claim it improved insulin levels 2. It recommended following a GI style diet which gave me confidence it could work for me 3. Accepting I was unable to follow a diet 24/7 and so it was worth trying something new. Start weight at Fast Diet 163lbs December 8 Fast Day 1 Breakfast fruit salad, dinner chicken breast and salad. Slight headache. Anxiety bordering on panic attack about not having food around lunch time. Very bored in the evening! But I expected this. Fast day . Breakfast fruit salad. Dinner tuna, cannelloni beans and red onion. What surprised me 1. Swimming curbed rather than added to my hunger 2. Much easier not to have alcohol on a fast day than under a calorie controlled diet 3. It was liberating to have non-fast days where nothing was off limits. I could enter the party spirit; I could treat myself. Officially you can in all diets but if your metabolism is as slow as mine combined with a love of alcohol, it is a constant pressure. Hardest part 1. It is hard to do. Not impossible but fasting goes against my natural instinct and learned wisdom. 2. If you cook a rubbish dinner (the tuna wasn't great and tonight's chowder was both too watery and too spicy) it is very, very upsetting as you have been looking forward to it from breakfast! RESULT OF FIRST WEIGH IN 15 December 159lbs. Week's weight loss 4lbs. Overall weight loss 11lbs. Under Fast Diet 4lbs. Goal: 125ibs by 31 March 2014 (I will revise this to something more achievable but when I set it, I had two years to get there!) This is a record weekly loss for me and yet I had two parties, one Christmas lunch and one night out. This is amazing. Tune in tomorrow when I will record my firsr 'back-to-back' fast. I don't want to do it that way but social life too packed to do it on different days.
