I can't believe what kinds of terrible things people are capable of. At the same time, a tragedy like this also show what kinds of wonderful things people are capable of, like the people who rushed in right away to help. I hope there will not be anymore causalities. I read on the news that the death count is up to 3. It is quite a shocking outcome to such a famous event.

so tragic. An 8 year old boy watching his Dad run and he gets killed. My heart is aching...

Heartbreaking..... unfathomable what depth evil exists in the minds of persons that are capable of committing these types of crimes.
Prayers going out for all involved...

praying for those affected and saddened once again by the evil in this world
I would like to see the title of this topic changed to "Bombings at the Boston Marathon." These were no accidental explosions, they were planned by people who wanted to kill as many innocent, unsuspecting people as possible. This is called "terror." Let's call it what it is.
I have been watching all this unfold on Sky news. It's just shocking and heartbreaking and I fail to understand the mentality of people who can do this to other humans.

This bothers me so deeply. It hits home for me in the way other tragedies haven't. I'm a runner. Maybe not a great one, but a runner. Those are MY people. And the Boston MArathon is such a positive, uplifting event, it makes no SENSE to attack it. So many dreams shattered today, in so many ways. People unable to finish, stranded, some may never get to come back. People injured, dead... it just hurts, inside and out. I've been on the verge of tears.

I do not mean to sound insensitive, but it is a great attribute of our country, possible of humanity as a whole. When tragedy like this strikes, those who are effected will become stronger as a result, the people of Boston will unite. Marathoners across the country and world will feel stronger, and feel something greater than just themselves. It is terrible to think of this happening, at something as life fulfilling as a marathon. I just know those who have been impacted will move to something greater. Our thoughts are with them.

If there is one bright spot to this tragedy, it's the medical personal that were already there to help the runners. I'm sad to say, they now have to treat injured from those explosions.
The news is reporting that two other devices have been discovered. They're looking for others.
Am watching this too. This type of thing is becoming too common but at a loss on how to prevent it. My thoughts and prayers are with all who are affected by this tragedy.

There are so many things about this that make me sick - namely that yet another American tradition is changed. It's one of the biggest sporting events of the year and people trained so hard for it, and it is the lifelong dream of so many to run in the Boston Marathon, and they're robbed of the experience.
I just feel so bad for the runners and the volunteers, and my prayers are with those who were injured.

Something HORRIBLE has happened in Boston in the last hour. Today is Patriots Day. The day the Boston Marathon is run. Big day here.
Two explosions have gone off near the grand stands in Copley Square. The injured are being taking to local hospitals.
Who does these kinds of things ??? You never think something like this can happen in your neighborhood. Is any place safe anymore ?
