i'm lucky that i get an hour off work (on the clock) 3 times a week to work out. i love mid morning workouts unless i'm going to the pool which i have to do at the end of the day becasue my hair takes like 5 hours to dry
I get up between 4:45 and 5:400 am to work out. I don't eat before I workout, although that means I'm often super hungry afterwards. If you need to eat before you work out, but don't want to take a lot of time, try a protein shake or bar or a bowl of cottage cheese or some toast with 1T peanut butter as a quick snack. I personally wouldn't eat my whole breakfast before I workout. I'd try something small, then actually eat breakfast afterwards.

I agree with Coach Jen. I can't workout on an empty stomach, mostly because I don't have the same energy, and I get light-headed. But a good friend of mine used to get up at 5:30 every morning and work out, and didn't eat a thing. I couldn't understand how she did it, but it never gave her a problem.
If I work out in the morning, I generally eat something small - an egg with a piece of wheat toast, a protein bar, some oatmeal. Just enough to ward off hunger and give me a little fuel.

Everyone is different- some people feel sick if they eat before they workout, but others (like me) feel sick if they don't. So you have to experiment to figure out what works best for you. I'd suggest trying something small like a banana, granola bar or some yogurt before your workout and see if that makes a difference in how you feel.

I've been getting back into exercising in the mornings as I feel a bit more motivated to do it then. I'm not worn out from work and such. At first I was just doing 20 minute workouts. Which allowed me to get up at 6 and have no problems staying on schedule. However, today I upped it to 45 minutes (I'm doing my Zumba game on wii). So I had to get up at 5:45. I noticed my stomach was hurting a little bit this morning. I hadn't had this problem before, when it was just a 20 minute work out. Should I maybe eat something before I work out (this would cause me to have to get up even earlier, so I could stay on schedule)? Should it be a whole breakfast or something small? What would you guys suggest?
I'm going to do the workout again tomorrow, without eating. See if my stomach hurts again or not. I kind of went to bed a little late and I get a stomach ache, sometimes, when I don't have enough sleep. So I'm going to make sure I get enough sleep tonight and see if that makes it better. If not, I'll start trying to eat before hand.
Suggestions on what food to eat would be loved! Also, sorry if this isn't the right place. It has to do with both food and exercise, so I just kind of chose at random. Anyway! I'm off to work. I'll have to check out replies later today.
