Thank you I do get a lot of exercise but I am still unsure as to it being enough in a given week. Walking, working out on my machine and jumping rope, cleaning house, but I believe that if I could buy a bike and ride it may be a good step up on my exercise. Because I do not dot run, I just walk a lot, but my muscles get stiff and need more work. I may just buy a standard bike inside my house for starters.
Thank you for all your fabulous answers! I guess I did have the Idea that I should work out hours and hours. I do waste my time in front of the computer (I'm an internet junkie!) three youtube videos= to one workout! right? You are great for doing all those things and still eating right and eating healthy. Bravo!

I try to do it early in the morning or after I send my toddler to school. Recently, I've been using the gym at my university as they offer a lot of classes and its free since I'm a student. If I can't make it to the gym I do an at home workout or go for a walk with my little one in the stroller.
I am married and have a 4 year old daughter, work full time and go to school (online). I have been able to workout consistently for 5+ years by getting up early. I plan my week on Sunday's and decide what workouts I am doing and what time I am getting up each day. It varies. I run but I have days that I run longer than others and that is part of my plan.
Example: Monday: OFF Tuesday: HIIT sprints outside Wedneday: 5 miles of steady run Thursday: HITT Sprints Friday: 5 miles Saturday: HIIT sprints Sunday: OFF
I mostly take Sunday and Monday off for family time and I don't feel like I'm interferring with my time with them. It's a mental thing. But, I will change it up if something is going on the next week that will prevent me from running my normal times/days.
Also, I get up anywhere between 3:30am and 530am. It all depends on my husbands schedule.
I find mornings work best for me. I find I am more consistent that way.
I think the main advice is PLAN. Literally plan out your week. Whatever day is your weekend, sit down and plan the next week's workouts because what happens is, you miss Monday... then Tuesday.... then Wednesday and then "you" think... It's already Wednesday so I might as well try again next Monday.... And another week goes by with no normal workouts.

If you have a regular job and there's a gym nearby, join it and go directly there after work (or get up early and go before work). The motivation to exercise will be so much better if it's just a matter of walking next door/driving a few minutes/what have you and exercising right away. You'll find that getting home an hour later than the usual time really isn't so bad.
I've found that if I go straight home with the plan to exercise when I get there, I end up thinking negative things like "ugh I still have to change into my workout clothes" or "I'm so hungry" or "all I really want is to just sit on the couch and eat dinner right now." I'm much less likely to actually end up exercising. "I'll just exercise tomorrow instead..." is a habit that's very difficult to break!

I, like other posters, have a full time job and a child.
Ultimately, and not to sound harsh like some other posters, you will make time for things that are important to you. If you don't find the time, you'll find excuses. Another posted mentioned they rarely watch TV anymore, which I have found to be the case for myself as well.
My life consists of working, working out, cooking, and then preparing my lunch for the next day.
You can do it, you just have to stop coming up with reasons why you can't!

I have a full time job, a husband and a 10-yr old daughter. I exercise 6 days a week and I generally exercise on my lunch break.
I'm married with 2 kids. I also work full time. Because of all that I have read about getting 6-8 hours a sleep a night, I make sure I get my sleep. I used to get up at 5am. I'm trying to get back to that, but my youngest sometimes wakes up early and only mommy can get her to sleep. So, I get home from work, cut up some grapes for her to snack on, give her some milk, then I get ready to workout, change clothes, etc. Then, I spend a little time with her until my husband gets home, and he watches her while I spend 45 minutes to an hour working out. I do it in the basement. It isn't easy, and I sometimes have guilty mommy complex because I'm not spending time with my daughter, but I do realize she needs to learn how important fitness is too. Weekends are awesome, because I just do it in the morning. But one day a week, my husband has a bowling league. He can't watch her that much, SO, I do 2 workouts during my 15 minute work breaks at work. 10 minutes of yoga and some strength moves. It is easy, fun and a nice break instead of sitting on my behind ALL day.
I'm a single parent with an extremely time consuming professional career. I used to use that as an excuse to not work-out but honestly, there is always time. I found that going to the gym didn't work because of pick-up/drop-off schedules and various extra-curricular activites for my daughter. I wake up at 5:00 a.m. and workout before getting ready for the day, I have a ton of workour videos so my work-out commute is the time it takes me to get downstairs. I bought a stationary bike and use it in front of the tv, I like to watch tv and I'm not giving it up in favor of working-out. This achieves the best of both worlds. I recently started running, I squeeze that in when I can in thr evenings. I work out an average of 6 hours per week (1hr x 6 days).
My time for exercise depends on my age and health. When I was in my twenties and in college as a single mom, I got my exercise done between 5 - 6 AM with jogging.My daughter slept, and I ran around the block checking on her every loop. I did it in dark, cold, windy days in winter, and summer sunny warm days. I kept up the "get up early, get it done, get it over with" for the rest of my life.
But that changed somewhat when the physical therapist told me at age 40 to get into Pilates to strengthen my core so I could stand up straight. I had poor posture. Now, at age 55, that is much better.
But I have had health problems. I was diagnosed with a lung disease in March of 2013. I am tired most of the time. I can still exercise early in the morning, but it is not as intense. Instead of jogging 15 miles a week as I did one year ago, now I walk, do Yoga, Pilates and swim a little.
When I had knee surgery, I could do sit-ups and upper body weights. One week after surgery I was swimming until I was able to go jogging again.
The most important thing SP has taught me is that exercise can be done in 10 minute segments throughout the day. Look for other posts like "Deskercise" and find out how to stay active while sitting at the computer at work (or when posting like this!). Other threads discuss how to stay active at jobs where one stands all day (squeeze your glutes and do calf raises!). Some people do wall push-ups every time they go to the bathroom. One of my friends does tricep dips on the toilet seat (lid down) when she is done using it. Jack LaLane did 1000 push-ups a day in 5-10 minute segments all day long when he was 90 years old. As a minimum, stand and sit up straight. It strengthens back muscles when you have good posture.
Keep hunting through these threads in this Fitness section and you will come up with other ideas to get moving all day, every day. It can be done. My choice is to get up, get it done, and over with, and fit in what I am able the rest of the day. But I often get engrossed in work and forget. Keep reading, asking questions and looking and you will figure out what works for your lifestyle. Good luck!
i am never too busy to exercise. My routines are 12 minutes several times a week. I do it in the morning upon waking, in the afternoon when I get home, or in the evening before bed.
It is something I make time for.

I work 3 jobs, married and a toddler. I exercise 6-7 days a week.
1. I don't sleep much. 2. I look at my week, identify the pockets of time, and schedule my exercise there.
Know that there are always people busier than you who manage to do more, so I find it motivating to remember these people. I know a lady with 7 young children, who is in school and manages to run 50 miles every week. Or another lady, whose husband is deployed, works, is in school, has a toddler, and trains for marathons. So surely you can manage 10 minutes a day.
Do you watch TV? Sit on the computer? Then you have time to exercise. Find the things that you are doing that are non necessary for life and replace some of that time with exercise. I barely watch TV anymore because I'm not in the habit because I swapped my TV time for workout time.

Many people believe they have to spend hours in the gym in order to lose weight, but the reality is--all activity is cumulative. Just committing to becoming more active throughout the day may be enough to give you some energy to tackling more time periods. Some people find breaking up their days into 3 10 minute segments is easier than one longer one. Start off where you know you can commit and then move on from there.
Hi guys! I'm not sure if this questions belongs here but here it comes I have a busy schedule but not so much as some of you who have full time jobs and spouses and children. Yet I don't seem to be able to find time to exercise. How do you do it? how many times a week do you exercise? when? Thank you very much for your answers!
