Thank you for your replies. I'm taking it easy on the exercise. I'm just trying to do a few seated exercises to keep myself from being completely out of shape by the time I can try walking again. Thanks again.

As others said, please, please, please get clearance from your doctor for exercise! We are not your medical professional and don't know the nature of what happened during your surgery. And I would be sad if anything suggested here caused further damaged.

There is so much one can do from a seated position, without challenging the foot at all. For instance:
-- Wheelchair versions of yoga poses
-- Upper body strength and flexibility exercises, including weight training from sitting and lying down positions
-- Upper body exercise ergometer for CV training
-- Resistance band training

Your physical therapist will have a million ideas -- just let him or her know that you are an athlete interested in reconditioning yourself!

3 weeks out from surgery I doubt your doctor has cleared you for exercise! You'll need to consult with your medical care professional on when and what is safe for you to do. ;)

My DS(16) had reconctructive ankle surgery in early January. His physiotherpaist was able to design an exercise program that worked aroung the foot. Check with your doctor and when he/she says you can start physio that is probably the best time to get back to exercise.

I had foot surgery about 3 weeks ago and am looking for ideas for some exercises I can do from a seated position. I have tried the videos here on Spark People and will continue to do them, but am open to any other ideas. I can't put my full weight on my foot yet so I can't really do anything from a standing position. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
