Every year, on the last Saturday before Thanksgiving, Tucson, AZ hosts the El Tour de Tucson, bike "race". It’s four races, the 111 miles, 85 miles, 60 miles, and 42 miles (plus family fun bike races as well).
Now I bike commute every day and everywhere, but I've never participated in a race before. I have a clunky, cheap Target "mountain" bike, and I never really pay attention to how long it takes me to go a certain distance.
I have no clue what it would be like, how to train for it, or even if this is something I want to try. But it keeps surfacing in my brain as something I should try. I was just wondering if anyone had participated in the El Tour de Tucson, or another similar bike race, and if you have any advice that could help me decide if this is something I want to commit to?
