Great insight - thank you for sharing and for pointing out so often we think of the big success and not pay attention to the smaller successes. After all when you combine all the small successes into one you've arrived at the big success!

First of all, congrats. But, most important, I LOVE your attitude - "I WILL lose the weight because it's simply the thing to do!" Overweight stops us from being healthy, and even sometimes - happy. We don't look good, we don't FEEL good and therefore we don't make right choices. Keep up the great work and attitude!.

Great job! I agree about the effortlessness, it's like sparkpeople went in my brain and turned on a switch that said "make the right choice instead!". Keep up the awesome work.

Woo-hoo, indeed! I like the way you've incorporated this entire lifestyle change into your life so it feels right. You, my friend, will not be one of those yo-yo dieters who loses weight and then slowly packs it back on. You've come full circle. You understand what to do and you're doing it. Kudos on a job well done!

That's totally a woo-hoo in my book! I am finding it the same way w/ me. This is what is meant as "life-style" vs "diet."

KAIPOW88, you have chosen the perfect word: effortless. Do you think you could have come to this point without Sparkpeople? Personally, I do not think I could have ever achieved my goal, let alone maintained it, if it had not been effortless. Without Sparkpeople, losing weight is a losing proposition. With Sparkpeople, losing weight is effortless, downright fun, inspirational, and a winning proposition.

Keep posting. I love reading your stuff.

That IS a big Woohoo -- thanks for sharing! This is exactly the magic of taking small positive actions one at a time. Done enough times this can truly transform your life in a way that can feel effortless like you say.

Have fun continuing to reach your goals!

One note is that as you continue along this path, it does become more and more likely that you will reach truly breakthrough goals and be doing things you may have never thought possible.

I just realized today that I am 2.4 lbs away from my halfway goal, 17 lbs. I am 5.4 lbs away from being in a healthy/normal BMI range again, where I was 20+ lbs overweight before starting .

For some reason these are strange realizations for me, mostly because it hasn't happened like I had expected it to. Last year, if you asked me how much I wanted to lose what I have so far, 15 lbs, I would have told you that I yearned for it SO, SO much. If I envisioned how it would happen, it would be in a dramatic way, requiring my full attention. I didn't have time for that. I didn't have the money. I had responsibilities, work, socializing to do. That would be too hard to lose weight.

And really, now that I start to reflect a bit on where I've come and where I'm going, it's been effortless. That is not to say that losing weight and becoming a healthier person has not required effort. But, rather, it's required no less energy than gaining weight had. It's the simple choice to go to the gym rather than watch TV. It's the simple choice to get a salad instead of a sub for lunch. It's the simple choice to track your food for the day in the 15 minutes that you would have been facebooking or reading your horoscope. It's just a series of simply better choices.

And here I am just over two months into my sparking. There's no triumphant horns signifying my great achievements, no crowd of people saying "OMG you look great!", but there's something more profound. I'm simply doing it because it will be done. That's that, and it's really no big deal. I feel like that's a big woohoo, no?
