Sounds like withdrawl-sugar, caffeine. Also maybe you need to make smaller goals and focus on those instead of ALL the cahnges you want to make! emoticon

Thank you so much for your replies! I can't say I feel deprived and I am eating food that I enjoy. In all honesty, I love all fruits & vegetables. I think I may have gone from one extreme to another & my body is feeling it hardcore. I give myself 1 "cheat" meal a week so that I don't feel restrcited & when I go out with friends, I don't carry money so I have no temptation to buy junk.I think it's also a sugar issue, I was eating a ton of sugar every day & now I try to keep it to a bare minimum. I just watched a coworker eat crab rangoons & I literally felt sad but then I remembered that food should NEVER be in charge of my emotions. I read it takes 18 days for something to become a habit, so I guess I just need to give it time. I also had shingles 6 weeks ago & I know the medication for that can make your body go all kinds of crazy! Again, thank you, I don't feel like I'm losing my mind! emoticon

People often report 10-14 days of being cranky, irritable, food cravings, etc---when removing excessivly high fat, high sugar, highly processed foods. Then they feel SO much better.

If you do not feel better soon---please see your doctor.

are you basically just upset that you don't get to eat whatever you want anymore? in other words, you're sad you can't have the chips you love or that you can't go out with friends because of how you are choosing to eat. is that it? because if that is the case, there is a ton of space between fast food all of the time and clean eating. and while you don't need to give up you do need to give yourself some more wiggle room. being too strict is one of the reasons why most people fail. changing your whole diet at once [from fast food to clean counts] is the dietary equivalent of deciding that you are only going to walk around backwards, that you're going to hop over every crack you cross, pirouette every time you cross a threshhold, only take left hand turns when you are driving, and take seven hops every thirteenth minute. how long do you think you could last doing that?
everything that you do on a regular basis is pretty much a habit. your made fast food into your habits and it's can take a while to remake those habits. it can take six weeks to change a single habit. so when you change them all, you tend to fall off the wagon pretty quickly.
so identify what you miss. if it is mac and cheese, make some mac and cheese. broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, spaghetti squash, zucchini and yellow squash all go well in the box mix or your favorite recipe. and if you're having half a cup of pasta with half a cup of veg, that seriously limits the calorie damage it can cause. if you tweak a homemade recipe just try using a little less oil and a little more veg. if you are sad because you can't go out with friends invite them in to your place. you could do themes, play games, watch movies and have fun with your friends.
remember, too, that only being at 60% of where you'd like to be is great progress for two weeks. rome was not built in a day and if you were one of the people who could do those sorts of turns on dimes then you wouldn't be asking this question. you're in the company of around 99% of the population on that.

I guess it's the "withdrawal" symptoms :)

Look at it this way, you are getting healthier everyday now that you don't eat junk food anymore. Feel great that you are turning it around.

I was actually the same way, but with my sweet tooth. Every night, I would have to have ice cream. After I started eating right, I just don't have a craving for sweets anymore. The first thing that comes up is "Do I really want that?" and most of the time the answer is no.

It's a struggle, but keep it up. It will pass.

I have had the complete opposite effect. I have been feeling absolutely fantastic since ditching the junk/fast food/eat-till-i-feel-bloated-and-sick, and replacing it with healthy eating in moderate portions.

Part of the "trick" for me is to eat healthy foods that I ENJOY, I am spending a lot of time planning, shopping and cooking, and making sure that everything that goes in my mouth is something i truly want to eat, something i can really savour. This is my defense against "feelings of deprivation" (which have, in the past, led to some complete derailing of my best intentions). Also I find that all the planning and prep and effort expended to "make each meal an occasion" causes me to engage with food in ways other than eating it. Surprisingly, it seems to have harnessed my obsession with food and channeled it into a positive direction.

I have started eating healthy over the last 2 weeks or so. After I got married in October, I completely let myself go, I had been eating nothing but fast food & processed junk. I have noticed a complete change in how I feel. I don't know if it's from the restricted calories when before I was eationg twice as much or if it's my body ridding the toxins but I have felt really sad and like I just want to quit plus I am VERY cranky. I'm eating the higher end of my calorie range & then plan on slowly tapering off but has anyone else had this feeling? (Also, I eat 90% clean most days).
