It's an individual choice. For me I eat after I exercise. I've found that I do not exercise well with food on my stomach. So, I make sure I had something packed and ready to eat after I exercise.
Progress may be slow, but it happens! No such thing as last place only finishers.

if i run first thing in the morning, i usually just have a coffee and go, maybe also some sport drink if it's hot outside and i know i will sweat a lot(i run 70 km a week total; i DO sweat a lot)! when i come back i have a protein shake, plus some fruit or some complex carb(a slice of bread, some crackers, etc), and some more coffee or a cup of hot tea(if it's winter).

Size has nothing to do with whether or not you should eat before or after a workout. What time of day are you exercising? If it's first thing in the morning, I'd recommend having something small (like a banana) if possible before you exercise. But some people feel sick if they eat too close to when they workout, so it's something you need to experiment with to see what works best for you. I do after primarily. But if my blood sugar is running low, I indulge a little just to lift me up.

It depends personally... If I'm working out first thing in the morning when I'm up, its exercise then eat, otherwise I end up feeling nauseated with food in my stomach since there's no time to digest it and end up quitting my workout halfway through which is demotivating. In the afternoon - usually will eat something for lunch around 11, wait at least an hour and a half, then exercise and I'm usually more motivated on those days. It depends on your body and how you feel, and your schedule of course.
It does not matter whether you eat before, after, or either.
In your own words.. you are fat. Therefore while your exercise may feel strenuous, it most likely not be enough to require you to replace calories from a workout. If you were doing something long term, like playing a basketball game for an hour, or running 10 miles, that may be necessary.
You should just eat your regular meals, and if you like working out an hour before, or after a meal, then do that. Whatever makes you feel best. There is no secret plan on eating at a certain time to optimize results. Other than not feeling poorly when working out, timing of meals won't be an issue for most exercisers. We have taken an idea from marathoner, and triathletes, and tried to implement it into workouts where we don't burn 500 calories.

I am definitely fat. I remember from a video a very long time ago, that it depends whether you are fit of fat as to whether it is best to eat before or after you exercise. Obviously you wait for your food to digest first.
