Just be careful about your teeth. I've broken a few chewing ice. Not worth it.

Yeah, heard that...I've done it off and on, because of iron deficiency and the moment, there's no test that says I have either. Its just a "crunch" thing I think. I love the crunch. Beats potato chips.

Oddly enough, eating ice like that can be a sign of iron deficiency anemia. I learned this several years ago when one of my friends was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia--she was always eating ice and we both kind of wondered why she liked it so much. The doctor said it was the iron deficiency. After she was treated, she stopped wanting to eat ice.

Here's a link about this:

Strange you should mention this, I am eating ice as we "speak". Love it, I used to hate when people crunched ice all day, but they never stopped for me so guess what, I am gonna crunch my brains out. And hopefully I will stay hydrated in the process!!!!!!!

Well what you can do is take the amount of ice cubes you eat, put them in a cup, and let them melt to see how much water you are actually intaking. Your you can go the difficult way and use a scientific formula...but thats to complicated. So I looked up the answer for ya. well - as few as 1 (if you freeze the water in the cup) depending on the size of the cube
8-9 - with the smallish round cubes, 20 to melt into 1 c water
4-5 - large square cubes to fill, 10-12 to melt into 1 c water

I eat ice all the time. I can eat cups and cups throughout the day. I eat ice more than I drink a cup of water. How do I count this as water intake?
