Kale, arugula, and red.yellow or orange peppers.

Very hard to limit myself to three since i am raw.

Thanks for your answer, Susan (SUSAN_FOSTER); spinach, tomatoes and peppers is a yummy combo.

I'd pre-covered your valid point when I wrote "They should be three ingredients that you love, ingredients you enjoy eating no matter what your current weight is". Like you, I totally agree that it's best to focus on the foods we like. I assume salad haters will appropriatey just skip this message.

Sweet baby lettuce, carrots and grape tomatoes- usually that is paired with feta, dried cranberries, protein and some sort of vinaigrette dressing. emoticon

I understand your desire for this thread but I also want to point out - if you get sick and tired of salad (or plain never like it at all), don't eat it. As you said, this is for a lifetime - you can get your vegetables other ways.

I will say my basic salad is spinach, grape tomatoes (yellow ones recently), and chopped red, orange, or yellow bell peppers.

We’re advised to develop an eating plan that will work for the rest of our lives, not just during weight loss time.

You can depend on salad, without getting sick and tired of it, during your weight loss and also later during your weight maintenance, for the rest of your life.

Think about and decide what your “basic signature salad” will be. The concept is that it will become one of your “go to” foods, one of the key items in your “Favorites” list.

A basic signature salad has three ingredients: one lettuce/green and two veggies. They should be three ingredients that you love, ingredients you enjoy eating no matter what your current weight is. You will keep these three ingredients in your fridge at all times, and eat them as often as you choose.

Later, we’ll talk about adding ingredients and creating variety.

For this message, I’d like to focus discussion on only your three basic ingredients (not the dressing).

My basic signature salad is romaine lettuce, carrots, and cucumbers.

Someone else’s basic signature salad could be iceberg lettuce, green peppers and tomatoes.

Another might be spinach leaves, mushrooms and red onions.

Another might be mixed field greens, broccoli and snap peas.

Tell us YOUR basic signature salad, just your three ingredients, and not the dressing.

Do you already keep your three ingredients in your fridge at all times? If not, is this message inspiring you to start with your next shopping trip?
