Thanks Jordiebrigs... Isn't it ridiculous how caffeine impacts you like that? I was so grumpy and had a headache so bad earlier! Then of course it went away after I gave in and bought a low-carb Monster..ugh lol other than that I have done great on day number 2 now!

Good luck! I keep trying to give up caffeine every once in a while. I will get a headache for almost two weeks. And feel super tired and crabby. But it's an addiction and it isn't going to be easy. Just take one day at a time and if you have one energy drink or soda don't give up. You can do this!

Thank you all for the replies... So far today I have not had an energy drink. And guess what? I have had a headache all day! Ouch I will cut back slowly on this one. I do drink the no carb sugar free ones so I should be fine. And I have never done more than 2 a day

I would try to cut back slowly, and not at the same time you are trying to radically change your diet. I enjoy diet soda, and want to cut back. However, I'm working towards cutting calories first, and studies have shown that people can only cut back so much at once without overdoing it and leading to failure. After I have gotten my eating under control, I will take a firmer hold on my soda intake and work on getting that under control.

I'm trying to make a few, small, maintainable changes that will add up to the results I want, instead of rushing into it and crashing.

You track water at the top of the nutrition tracking page.

Good luck with all parts of your program.

By the way if you're used to drinking a lot of these per day, going cold turkey is going to be very difficult. It might be easier to wean yourself off of them. Like, for a few days, have one less than you normally do (replace it with water!), then for the next few days, two less, etc etc. That's how I got myself down to one diet coke per day down from at least 6. When I tried to quit cold turkey, the headaches and other withdrawal symptoms from the caffeine proved to be too much for me and I would always cave.

I've never been one to drink them as I know just how bad they are for me. I'm not sure what the best suggestion is as it depends on your personality. I know for me, I'd be able to stop them "cold turkey" and just stay away.

Where are you when you drink them? Do you buy them for home? Are you out with friends? I'd try to alter the situation. I NEVER buy foods (unless it's a planned treat) to keep in the house that I just know I'll over-indulge in. I know I can't trust my will power around dark chocolate, ice cream, etc so I don't buy them. If you're getting them when you're out with friends is there something else you can grab instead? Like a bottled water?

try cutting back to a couple a daythen to one.

i sometimes drink a monster ( low carb or absolute zero) . i like the drinks they just cost a lot.

maybe put the money in a piggy bank and see how much you would save a month.
