Adding the tomatoes helped, but I ended up having to make a triple batch and adding 2 extra cans of tomatoes and another can of chicken broth. That made it pretty nice though, because I was able to give some to each neighbor and still had a large bowl for me. With the cold now I am making some more to warm me up.
I am making some of the tortilla soup for a Christmas present and took out the green chile, but it is still too spicy for my neighbors. I'm making a double batch without beans (since I can't have beans in what I keep). Will an extra can of tomatoes help to cool it off, or what can I do to get the spice not so hot?
