Well right now we're looking at a wedding date of May 16, 2015. It's pretty flexible as we haven't even booked our venue yet (have two more places to look at before we make our final decision)

My biggest question is - when is your wedding? You need to figure out the appropriate budget and timing for your dress. You need to order early as some dresses take 6+ months to come in - BUT if you order too early - over altering a dress can completely change the look of the gown - so if you are a year plus out - I probably wouldn't with the amount of weight you are looking to lose.

I purchased my dress about 7 months before the wedding - but luckily - I bought it right off the rack - so I didn't have to wait for delivery. I have less than 20 lbs to lose, loved the dress, and it fits my budget - so buying that early off the rack was fine.

And always remember - buy a size that fits you then - not what you hope to be for the wedding!

So I am planning on going dress shopping next month in Michigan with my maid of honor. HOWEVER, I live in Alabama and obviously trying to lose weight before the wedding. My concern is this- What if I find a dress I absolutely LOVE and it fits perfectly now? Should I just let it go or buy it and have it altered?
