About 6 weeks for the first fitting and two weeks for the second! My first fitting is tomorrow!

I was told 4-6 weeks before the big day.

When I went to try on my dress for the first time, it was too small....the woman told me casually I needed to lose ten pounds...easier said than done, esp when I weigh 130...10 lbs is kind of a big deal! I was so disappointed by her lack of sympathy...so I'd recommended at least 8 weeks in case you need to lose weight!

6 to 8 weeks should be fine, with your final fitting maybe 2 to 3 weeks. Just verify that with your tailor to ensure it works with their schedule.

I'm getting married in November and don't plan on starting fittings until June or July. I think the first one I'll probably just get it hemmed, maybe and do all the taking in later as I too am trying to slim down.

Ask your seamstress.

You only need to do it 6-8 weeks before the wedding. Leave it till at least 3 months before.

How far in advance should I start getting my dress altered? My wedding is in November and I am still losing weight and getting in shape.

Thanks!!
