I think he bit off more than he can chew. When he did ten minutes a week on Oprah, he could just go on and talk about things he knew, and it was fascinating, without him really having to do any additional work. It was all off the top of his head, and in small doses so he didn't run out of material. When he got his own show and had to present HOURS of info every week, he just couldn't do it anymore. He didn't know enough to fill that much time (nobody really does) and he didn't have the time to research. Most people in that position hire other people to do serious research and choose intelligent, credible guests to appear and help fill the time. Oz chose to just open his slot up to any random guest to come on and blabber about whatever. The scam artists didn't take long to realize it and exploit it, so his show has turned into a free-for-all infomercial. The network doesn't care because daytime TV is a big wasteland anyway. They're not willing to put any money into helping him regain his credibility. So there it is. He's turned into a joke because he's just desperate to fill airtime.

He seems to have completely lost his integrity in the last year or so. I really don't trust anything he says at this point. His modus operendi at this point is to sell supplements.

It's very sad because it seems like he really used to help people.

Dr. Oz is a really rich guy. He is also a CardioThoracic surgeon. That does not make him an expert on everything! I watched about 5 minutes of his show once. That was all I could stand. Is anyone really suprised that he stretches the truth for a buck?

I don't watch him anymore since he became a pill pusher. I used to like him when he explained things about the body like all about our poop!

water is an essential. I wasn't aware that that was even a debate. As for coffee, the effect of caffine is well established but comes with its own issues. It can boost energy and lessen cravings, but I haven't made it part of my routine. I need too much fluffy stuff in it to drink it. But I don't think water is even debatable. Maybe bottled water, but not water as part of a weight loss regimine.

It's just like shopping in a store. The salesperson cannot tell you that this product is better than this one. You have to choose what is best for you.

In the "old" days, they called it "snake oil salesman". The first month he was on his own show, he made common sense, but then, he had to pacify the supplements makers that paid for his web site, so he began to push those. Then the toxin junk, at first he said if you really needed to clean toxsins out of your body, your organs were dying on you, But, by the end of the year, he began exploiting those products, because he needed new sponsors, he was losing viewers. We can't stand him, can't stand to see him on the cover of magazines, either. Of course, like all of that ilk, he crys all the way to the bank.

It seems that the Dr Oz show changed so much since taking over Oprahs time slot. He use to have overweight people on the show, make suggestions on how to lose, how to modify a meal into a healthier version, some exercises and keep the viewers updated on their progress time to time,..now he pushes extract pills to lose and often contridicts himself. Almost a half hour infomercial about a extract pill for weight loss before going to another topic. I enjoyed Dr Oz when I weighed 315+ lbs his suggestions helped a lot and I lost weight...but no, I will NOT do another diet pill of any kind. Sorry there is NO magic weight loss pill, herbal, or whatever the current trend is. I will not force myself to drink to much water, coffee, teas until I feel bloated . I fell for them to many times and the promises to lose weight.

He does tend to contradict himself a lot. One show he'll recommend one thing, then another show he'll go against it. I noticed that early on. Everyone is human though, and everyone makes mistakes. We're all hypocrites in some way. Nobody follows their own advice 24/7!

No he isn't. We must all remember that since every ones different. What works for some people don't for others, so he gives people different options. So you just need to find what works for you and follow that.

Your message was totally off-topic and not appreciated, DWROBERGE. This is NOT a political discussion and I suspect most of us would like to keep it that way.

ArchimedesII is right... the general public is so eager for quick fixes that it almost begs someone to come along and capitalize on that eagerness. When you find a charismatic person like Dr. Oz who is making lots of money from his image and public persona, it's hard not to also distrust the hype!

I don't think the problem is with Dr Oz per se. I think the problem is the lack of hard evidence to support some of the "cures" presented on his show or any other talk show.

I could go out on the web right now and find studies that say, drinking coffee can help a person lose weight AND I can also find studies that say drinking coffee won't help a person lose either. Eat eggs. No don't eat eggs. Drink coffee. No, don't drink coffee. Eat more fish. No watch how much fish you eat because of mercury levels.

There is too much information and disinformation out there. Making sense of it all isn't easy.

Also, too many people are still looking for that quick fix. Everyone wants to know how to lose weight fast. Well, there is no fast way to lose weight. no magic pill. There never was. Weight loss is a slow steady process that takes time.

I often wondered if the things on his show worked. That's sad because so many people believe the things he's trying to sell.

Agree with CMCOLE. It is all who is going to give him the money. His supplement shows are a total joke. Raspberry Ketones and L-Caritine do not help you lose weight. Green tea though it has some benefits, is not a cure all. One of the shows I watched he helped women smooth out under their clothes by having them fitted in slimmers than no more than two shows later he told his audience how horrible slimmers were for women to wear.

I take everything he says with a grain of salt. I know even one show he said how all children should be vaccinated and get the flu shot but then turned around and said his kids have never been vaccinated and he would never give them flu shots.

So is he a hypocrite? maybe. What would really be interesting is to become one of his patients and see what tune he sings.

There are always new studies and theories coming out on weight loss and nutrition. It is a multi billion dollar industry. To me, Dr Oz needs new info and guests for his show so what is the latest and greatest is presented.

Just think about all the theories from previous years and how they have changed.

I don't think Dr. Oz is a hypocrite, I think he is just doing the best he can and is definitely swayed by the people who indirectly pay him. We should all do our own research and figure out what works for us. I think a lot of supplements only make the vitamin and nutriceutical companies rich.

he's a con man.
He'll say anything someone gives him money to say, in my opinion.
I've stopped even acknowledging anything he says

Drinking water and coffee helps to lose weight according to Dr Oz on previous shows....yet on Wednesday show Both were proven to be a Myth! Excess water is peed out when cells are hydrated, coffee does not boost metabolism. Sooo other than a belly filler to feel fuller during meals,, then one peed out and hungry again. find out for yourself. Go to . DrOz.com to find out more.
