While being active at work does burn calories, it is not really a substitute for dedicated exercise, as it doesn't get your heart rate elevated on a continuous basis, and therefore doesn't create the same health and fitness benefits.

I'm pretty new here. When I signed up I checked "active lifestyle," because I work at a fast-casual restaurant as a cashier/cook/dishwasher/cleanerupper and that's relatively active (full time), and I'm a sign-spinner part time. You know those people holding the huge signs advertising for local businesses or whatnot?
I want to know if the sign spinning can also be counted as exercise, though. I feel that it goes beyond what I'd consider an "active lifestyle" -- I called myself active when I was JUST doing restaurant work, too! And if it does count, how much does it count for? I get really into it, I dance with my whole body and spin and shake it for 5 hours a day, 3 days a week. I guess I kinda want it to count because I'm always dead tired and skip my runs on those days, haha :)
