It totally works! And you feel so strong after the 2nd week that it can keep you motivated!

11/10/11 3:44 P

I am beginning this program this weekend. I started P90X over the summer and just didnt have the time and energy at that point. Going to use this to get back into the routine I miss of working out.

I finished my 30 day shred this week! I am so proud of myself for actually completing the entire thing. I lost about ten pounds, but I am happier with the inches lost.

I lost 3 inches in my waist, 1 inch in my hips, and 1 inch on each thigh. Plus, I went down 2 pant sizes. Amazing! I definately have more energy also. I really didn't do much else but the dvd. I have started to watch my calories this week and I would like to walk/run 3 days a week also.

I am going to do the shred again and increase my weight size while trying some of the harder moves. I am on level 2 right now since that was my favorite. I can actually do all of the moves in that one.

Good luck! You can do it!

You sound like me! I'm on Day 8 now, and I had to start with Level 2 because I didn't have the DVD when I started (I have since bought it but I started with the On Demand feature through Comcast). Days 1 and 2, I really wanted to die. I had never been so sore in my life, and man, did I cuss Jillian (the TV) out!

Gradually, it has gotten easier, but I have to say that this morning, I did NOT want to get out of bed and do this before I got ready for work. I was thinking of all kinds of excuses not to do it, but the logical part of my brain knows there is absolutely NO excuse for not getting in a 25 minute workout in the morning - no matter how difficult it is! So I got up, drank a cup of coffee, and battled through it. Funny thing though - it wasn't a battle at all! This morning was the first time that I really kind of breezed through it, which means I definitely need to add more weights (I'm at 2 pound weights now, so I'm gonna add a pound or two tomorrow).

Since I started with Level 2, my plan is to get through Level 2 in 15 days and then move on to Level 3 for the remaining 15 days. I'm not doing anything else besides this DVD right now, but my plan after 30 days is to incorporate heavy cardio every other day while continuing with Jillian on the days I don't do cardio. At this point, I just want to get stronger.

So like I said, I'm finished with Day 8, and while I haven't received any comments from anyone mentioning anything different about me, I can definitely tell that my arms and shoulders feel and appear much more toned, as well as my abs. When I hold my stomach in, it wants to say held in (as opposed to letting out when I'm not concentrating). In other words, it feels like things are a bit more 'pulled in,' if that makes sense. I'm anxious to see the results after the 30 days is completed, but the main goal at this point, the main goal is to just get stronger and build some endurance. I'm not expecting to lose a lot of weight - I've heard most people don't, actually, but I would like to lose some inches by gaining a lot more muscle. Unfortunately, I've turned rather 'mushy,' and it's time to do something about it!

So, wish me luck!

I finished day 6 of phase 1 today. (I took a day off yesterday.) I have lost 2.5 pounds so far! Not bad for only one week. I haven't checked my measurements yet. But, I know that my inches are going down as well. This makes me so excited to keep doing this video every day! I still can't do all of the push-ups. (I hate them!) I can do more than I could on day 1 though. I can't wait to see more results!

Yes it works!! This was the first workout dvd I've ever tied. I lost about 10lbs, but a ton of inches. I saw a huge difference in strength and endurance and my clothes started getting loose right away. I highly recommend this program!

Now I'm doing the Jillian Michael's 30 day slim down which rotates a bunch of her dvds. I'm only on day 7, but I'm loving it so far!

I just finished day 5 of phase 1 workout. This workout is tough! I could hardly bend over or sit down without pain on day 3. I took Jillian's advise and worked through it, I am so glad I did. My body is not hurting anymore and I know my body is getting stronger. I can't wait to see the results from finishing these workouts! I went from doing no exercise to working out with this video every day. If I can do it, anyone can do it. I would like to lose at least 50 pounds and I know this will kickstart my weight loss.

@ Priscilla : i used 5lb weights - one in each hand - swap to 3lb weights on the V fly with squats in level 2 and sometimes with the punching cardio in L3- depending on how i feel that day-

i think all of this work out is different strokes for diff folks and while i go with Jillian's ideal of always challenging my body im going to listen to my body too- if that makes sense.

Well, i hated it and wanted to give up and i was putting on weight too, but i stuck with it. Level 1 was the worst. It took more willpower than i knew i had to keep on. I had to switch my brain off- all thoughts of excuses, ignore the pain and carry on. By Level 2 noticed i was a lot stronger and fitter, my body was more compliant, but it was still a slog. At day 23, on Level 3 in my case there was a major break through. I noticed muscle tone and strength like never before. The weight is hovering but the inches are a bit better. My body is starting to look totally different in a good way. I have tone and definition starting that i have always wanted. i look 20lbs lighter even though i am not. People are really noticing. I am even stronger and fitter.I have really stuck to it but i did modify some of the cardio a tad as i thought my heart would explode. Now im excited to go through it all again and to hopefully be able to do every single part of it in the advance- mode. Also my hatred of Jillian from Level 1 has turned into demure respect. She delivers as promised if i listen and follow instruction- without debate. The toughest part for me was changing my thinking and removing the 'yah buts'.

I just finished my 2nd run with 30DS. I do this workout late evening around 7-8 at night. I am still on level one and all this morning I felt quite sore. But I still managed to go to the gym this morning and go on the elliptical and treadmill. I know I seem like i'm jumping the gun, but I already feel quite firm and stronger. Besides the soreness hehe, I will continue on with this DVD until day 30. I will run straight through and not rest so that my body will adapt. But if anyone one feels they should rest for a day, I would replace the workout with yoga or a stretching session. Good luck everyone!

FUFUREIDA, that's really not your judgment call to make. You have NO idea what's going with someone else's body just based on a message board post. Maybe they had a poor diet, sure. Or maybe they don't HAVE 20 lbs to lose, even stretched out over 6 weeks. Maybe they're losing inches without seeing the scale move -- it happens ALL the time because the scale doesn't even come close to telling us the whole story.

Just saying.

That being said MISSBIGBOODY, what do you mean does the program "work"? Do you want to lose 20 lbs in 30 days? Cause that probably won't happen. But, if you DO follow the 30 Day Shred, you WILL increase your muscular strength and endurance, you WILL get good cardio exercise, and you WILL have accomplished something amazing for your body. Of course, everyone's body responds differently, so I can't tell you you're guaranteed to lose X inches or Y pounds, but I can tell you that it's an effective workout.

So go for it!

When it is said that 'use 2-5 pounds' this the total weight or individual weights? I am using 2.5 pound individual, just curious whether I am doing too low or Ok in terms of weights.

I started the 30 day shred on Monday and did the workouts all week. When I did my weigh in Saturday morning I loss 2 pounds and when I measured I loss a total of 2 inches. I plan on sticking with it. Working out 6 days a week and resting on the 7th day. I am still on level one.
Also I have back problems, left knee pain and my left heel hurts. So for the cardio part of it, I use my mini trampoline.

I dont mean to sound harsh but after doing the DVD for 6 weeks and only losing 3 pounds...thats not a great achievement! The DVD says that you can lose up to 20 pounds in 30 days...surely you could have lost at least 5. Sounds to me you didn't control your diet, vegan or not.

Well I am only on day 2 at the moment and I absolutely love it. It is extremely difficult though. Im not on a diet I just eat less bad food and eat more fruit and veggies... thats what its about right? I also have slim fast 3 times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I'm loving it! Hoping to lose at least 10 pounds by the end of February!

I usually use the 30-day Shred video when I am working out at home. I started with it way back at the beginning. It really helped me with the options on how to move and the levels of workout. Good luck and the pain fades as you get used to moving those muscles.

I finally got brave enough to take the plastic wrap off of the dvd and I did workout 1 last Friday. I could not walk for a day and a half (so it must do something right). So I braved workout number 2 on Tuesday this week and managed workout number 3 on Wednesday. I skipped today because I was strength training at the gym tonight...because I surely cannot do both. *Big mistake trying to do Jillian at 2:30 and my Zumba class at 4:30 on Wednesday!!! It killlled me!

But all in all I haven't been at it long enough to see results, but I do know it works muscles I didn't even know I had! It is definitely something I hope to stick with! Best of Luck to you if you try it!!!

I never liked her on Biggest Loser. I still don't like her on Biggest Loser, BUT, my mom and my Aunt have both been doing it and say she is totally different so I go buy it. I am on Day Two of Level One and I REALLY like it! Level One is very challenging and there is a lot of Jumping Jacks. Join Jillian Michaels' Sparkteam to learn more about her DVD's and such. Essentially, it's circuit training. She combines strength training AND cardio AND ab workouts for maximum results.

My muscles are sore and my body aches and in 20 minutes, I sweat MORE than when I do a 30 minute workout of anything else. The more you sweat, the more fat and calories that's going to come off, regardless of the minutes you do per day.

I'm really enjoying it and never thought I'd enjoy Jillian as much as I do! Can't wait to know what it feels like on Day 30!

1/13/11 10:43 P

You really cant and should not cheat yourself in this workout. You have to push through it if you want results and trust me, you WILL get stronger!!! I have been using 5lbs weights and it is quite a challenge even on level 1! I can finally feel muscles I have never felt on my body before! Thank you Jillian! emoticon

1/11/11 5:26 P

i did it to the tee and i toned up pretty fantastically. now i am doing some of her other dvd's to finish what 30DS started. i was full body sore for 3 days after i started the program but the soreness went away but it took me till day 5 or 7 to even do all the reps! its intense but she does things in good form and you can mute her if you dont feel like listening to her push you. i would recommend some supplemental cardio to go along with it and yea, you need to at least try to eat healthy. all in all i recommend it, good luck!

I picked up the video at Costco to add to my half marathon training. I'm in pretty good shape, but even Level 1 was tough for me! I think it's a great workout and could definitely jumpstart someone's weight loss.

However, it is only 20 minutes long, so making sure to add in more cardio and watching your food would certainly effect your results.

I've done the workout twice. I skipped a couple of days after the first one, but definitely intense but doable. It is over very fast, but you will be working hard to get through it. Crossing my fingers to stay disciplined to do it every day. Would really like to see some results.

When I started my regimen I started with the 30 day shred. Then I went to No More Trouble Zones and I lost almost 40 lbs in a short amount of time. My body was changing and it was getting noticed.

Now if I could just get back into it.

LOST Inches overall since April 1st
Chest - 2
Waist - 3
Hips - 2
Thighs - 1
Arms - 1

Definitely love the Shred. My DH and I are on level 2 but we took a couple of days (more like 4) off due to traveling and being really tired. But we love it! We are starting over with level 2--so today was really day 3 of 2 but we are saying it is day 1. I have definitely seen my strength improve and I will be anxious to see the end result. LOVE it though. I will be getting the Blast Fat, Boost Metabolism one for the summer when I have more time.

I LOVE the 30 day shred! I've been doing it since Feb. For awhile I was only doing that dvd everyday, but now I have all four of her DVDs: 30 day shred, BFBM, NMTZ, and Yoga Meltdown. I rotate thru one of them a day, and I do my c5K training every other day. I look awesome from doing this, and I believe it's the DVDs.

5/26/10 8:34 A

This is the best I've ever heard.
Overall, I lost
3 pounds
2 inches in the waist
2 in the hips
1 in the chest
*got definition in my arms
*butt lifted a little bit

I was very good with it and did it 6 days a week.

You will get really sore if you're not used to some of the moves. She's a drill instructor and won't allow you to break for more than 5 seconds. As she says, if you want a real workout in 20 minutes, you've got to earn it. If you want results, you've got to fight for them.

I have 2 of her other DVDs now. I have the No More Trouble Zones and the metabolism one. When I'm done with the 5k I'm training for, then I'll go back to Jillian videos for my training.

5/25/10 10:32 P

It is awesome. I have been doing it for a week and I am already seeing more muscle definition in my arms!

I started the 30-Day Shred 30 days before my 50th birthday. I only lost 4 pounds but I lost 5.5"! I have much more energy than before and I can get back into my skirts and that's a huge money-saver for me! I'm going another 30 days to get stronger. (I don't work out on Sundays though.)

I hope so- I just ordered it and No More Trouble Zones from amazon. They both got tons of good reviews on there. Recently I dusted off my Biggest Loser Cardio Max, and that is killer. If it starts to get easy, which I can't quite imagine, I can just change up my weights from 5lbs to 8lbs, etc.
I used to love my Self Slim and Sleek and Bikini Ready Fast, but now they're a cinch compared to Cardio Max.

I haven't tried the 30 Day Shred so I can't speak to how effective it is. I do use Jackie Warner's strength training DVDs and it kicks my butt! I love this dvd. My friend and I do it once a week together, and I do it alone once a week. I've seen only good results in my body and my attitude. So much so, that my husband has even done it a couple of times. :)

I did the 30 day shred last summer and saw some changes in my measurements. I think it's important to add it with some good cardio and obviously eating good food. If you're not used to do strength training and circuit training it can be a little intense. I've talked to some people who found it pretty easy, but still effective. Why not do a 30 day shred challenge? Take your measurements (arms, legs, waist, hips, bust) before starting and do the DVD every day for 30 days. Then take your after-measurements and see how it works for you! That's what I did last summer and it was great motivation to get it in every day.

4/2/10 5:49 A

I really like her intensity...I was thinking of getting it myself. Somewhere I read something about her intense yoga program on the message boards here - seems several people liked it.

4/2/10 5:28 A

I was thinking about buying and trying it. Has anyone had experience/success with this? Recommendations or reviews? If so/not are there any programs you tried that did work? I'm moderately active and athletic. Any and all help is awesome!
