i have to watch MSG as i am allergic to it. it gives me massive headaches. and it makes my mom all read and itchy and starts to close up her throat. we are very concious of it in my house. as for Aspartame...nope don't watch for it at all
Ever since finding out that MSG may be one of the major issues in my headaches, I've tried to cut it out completely. It's almost impossible to do as it is in everything, either by the name MSG or another name.
As for aspartame, same thing but I've had a lot more success with it. Helps with my soda drinking as well as I'm down to Jones diet sodas or Pepsi One usually which means I drink WAY less.
Although I will ask for 'no MSG' in chinese food restaurants, that is more for my wife's sensitivity (she's gets wildly dilated pupils, dizzy and headaches with MSG). I do not check food labels for MSG and I do not mind some Aspartame.
Now TSP (Tri-Sodium Phosphate) in foods. That's another story. I don't like cleaning solution in my cheerios.

I do not check. I really do not eat many processed foods though.

CASSIOEPIA - Thank you, I appreciate your link - but I have an issue with the content. Stevia is listed with all of the other artificial sweeteners - but it's a natural product and recognized by our bodies, where the other garbage is not - I'm a breast cancer survivor and I strongly believe that these chemicals that are being added to our "food" are very dangerous to our overall health - and the point of my questions is to see if other people are aware of these chemicals and what they think. I realize that your team seems to be aware of all of the artificial sweetener web links - but they are not always truthful as to what the true facts are.

This is a decision that you need to make on your own, but having some education will certainly help. Here is an article from the SP resources which has some information on Aspartame.
