For me it helps to weigh/measure everything before it went on my plate, because if I pile on half a plate of mashed potatoes, I'm gonna eat half a plate of mashed potatoes! (I still admittedly have trouble at restaurants where they serve the equivalent of 3 meals on a single plate!)
It also helps to only buy as much as you need, or make plans for the leftovers before you even start cooking. It was hard at first but it's practically second nature now.

Yes, like most....my issue is portion control. I hear the word moderation..but it turns to "go ahead have a few more bite" in my head lol....I'm working on it....
I don't follow the meal plans, as before I started I was already a pretty good cook and good at preparing healthy meals, I just had NO idea what a portion size should be! I figured I would still get the comfort of eating the stuff I liked, just with less of the not-nutritionally-awesome stuff.
