I get either a 6 inch on whole wheat or a salad. I also usually get a bag of Baked Lays (I'm talking Subway, here). I have gotten the Orchard Chicken salad recently (so yummy, and it's not too terrible), but I typically get one of the under 6 grams of fat (turkey or chicken usually, last time I got a sandwich, I did get the chicken teriyaki) with loads of veggies. I like the fat free honey mustard to make sure there's some moisture, and I usually forgo the cheese.

I usually get a foot long veggie sandwich, and I ask them to scoop the bread. I am very careful about the sauces because they add up a bunch of empty calories. I generally add vinegar for dressings.

I love alfalfa sprouts, but I don't know where most sub shops get them, so I usually avoid getting them on my sandwiches if I don't know where they came from...

I order something different wherever go, and sometimes places have different toppings... I usually get a 6" sub on seasoned bread with turkey, lettuce, black olive, banana peppers, light mayo, and cheese...

I usually go for the footlong turkey. I only get one strip of light mayo now though, so that lightens it a little. I get tons of veggies too. The footlong keeps me full a lot longer, so it's practically my only meal for the day if I get one. The six inch is for when I am not starving and I am pressed for time. :)

CRZYQUILTER-
I've visited many Subway restaurants in multiple states and I've never been to one where they don't use the knife, put it in that tub of water without wiping it off, take it out of the tub and use it wet on the next sandwich. I'd love to say it's just one Subway, but it's all of them...and it's gross. If your Subway is different, then you're lucky!

I get a footlong at subway but do not add dressing like I used to, I love veggies so I have them pile them on and use the lowest calorie bread.

LOVE4KITTIES I would recommend visiting a different Subway and maybe notifying the manager of that one. I have never seen a wet knife at any of the Subways here. In fact each station has several.

LOVE4KITTIES - never noticed the knife, but am totally grossed out now. Will have to pay attention the next time I visit Subway.

Always a six inch oven roasted chicken breast with lettuce, tomato, light mayo and salt & pepper. Chips or a cookie and light lemonade.

Well, I usually get a footlong "vegetable" sandwich, but it's in quotes because I didn't really like vegetables so it would basically be a cheese sandwich with some lettuce and onions. But if I were to go back now, after I've started my diet, I would probably get a 6 inch, not ask for extra cheese, and try to get more vegetables on my sandwich.

Whenever we go get sandwiches, which isn't very often. If I go with my kids we buy a foot long and I will give 1/4 to each of my kids and eat the other half myself. I rarely go out without the kids but there is no way I can eat a whole foot long in one sitting.

I only rarely eat at Subway and, when I do, I get a footlong and share it with my husband. I dislike Subway because of their nasty, drippy knife. You know...the one that they use to cut every sandwich and then put into a tub of water with a bunch of food particles in it...the one that they don't even bother to wipe down and you can see the mayo and tuna pieces on it from the person's sandwich they made 2 sandwiches ago...the one that they take out of the water (with all the food pieces floating in it) and then don't even shake the water and drippy mayo/fwet food particles off pf before they smear all the nastiness off of it onto your sandwich... No, I just don't like that sort of thing and, even when you ask them not to cut your sandwich, they still practically insist on cramming their nasty, drippy, old-food particle and wet mayo laden knife into your sandwich to close it (wiping off a lot of that nastiness onto your sandwich in the process). Yuck. Gross.

Sorry, just my 2 cents. emoticon

I rarely purchase anything of this nature as for starters there is too much bread in a sub.. It goes wrong for me every time I eat the bread no matter how wonderful it tastes..

I am no low carb fan, but we women only need 2 slices of bread and 100 grams of pototoes to get all the complex carbs our brain needs daily.. Sitting at a restuarant of this nature is no longer healthy with the bread base alone..

Sitting with the roll with it crew usually ends disappointing.. So I avoid the excess bread shops too..

I always get the footlong because it is more economical but after it is toasted I don't think it is as good left over so I usually eat the whole thing and then I feel miserable. That is why I only go there every month or two.

I usually get a 6" roasted chicken breast at Subway with extra meat. But, I rarely go there anymore because I need to avoid wheat.

6 inch fewer calories go for whole grain bread and they have a list of 6 inches with 6 grams of fat and lists of dressing and toppings to put on. dont get soda swap it with either juice or water hope this helps

NIRERIN, the reason why you felt sick is because your stomach can't digest meat any more. Do you see any of those workers changing their gloves after handling meat and moving on to the veggies? No, they don't even take them off when handling cash, or heading onto another order after handling cash. So what is happening with you is a cross-contamination with meat getting into your veggies. Just like a peanut allergy person would have a reaction if someone didn't wash their hands properly after eating peanuts and touching something they then ate.

We usually order 2 footlong's each cut into 4ths for the family. We pick and choose between the two subs, DH will have half of each but he can eat a foot long without putting weight on. My daughter and I share what is left so I end up with a 6 inch and DH ends up eating the left overs that my little one does not want.

Our main choices are tuna and the black forest ham. DH is allergic to poultry so no chicken, turkey etc. Sometimes we'll order a chicken and my daughter and I will attack that one while DH orders what he wants. I put in lots of veggies and have a little honey mustard or sweet onion [always just one stripe across the sub].

Depends, usually six inch though. I'm pretty good about sticking to the green veggies and lower calorie condiments though, thankfully.

When I was heavier I always got the footlong, but now that I am smaller I only get the six inch. I usually get the tuna or the veggie.

I LOVE Subway. It's the only fast food joint I actually like. Still, I don't eat there that often, maybe once every two weeks or so, even though I could probably eat there every day, I like it so much. I like six inch turkey on honey oat with pepperjack cheese and microwaved bacon with spinach, tomatoes, pickles, lil onion, and southwest sauce. No chips, cookies or soda. Sure, it's not a Superhealth food, but its certainly better than a whopper, nutrition-wise and calorie-wise.

My old favorite was six inch roast beef on honey oat with pepperjack cheese, spinach, tomatoes, lil onion, extra banana peppers and vinegar, a sprinkle of black pepper and honey mustard dressing. They changed the roast beef a few years ago so I don't get it anymore.

I need to answer my own question!

I always get the footlong but usually only eat 1/2 and save the other half for the next day.

I avoid the condiments--maybe sometimes honey dijon mustard or lite ranch.

I always put lots and lots of the nice fresh veggies on my sandwich: green peppers, cooked green peppers when they have them, spinach when they have that. that is why I go to Subway--the fresh veggies that I hate to manage at home.

I used to get the meatballs and marinara but they have no taste. I don't know why.

I love swiss cheese! emoticon

Sometimes I get double turkey but then I always save half for the next day. The bacon chicken ranch or the chicken and avacado are both good. On someone's suggestion I will try the chicken with swiss cheese--then lots of fresh veggies.

Thank you all for answering! You are definitely helping me manage my portions better!

It does amaze me when someone says a 6 in. makes them feel stuffed! I am not there yet.

I hope the 9 grain wheat is actually whole grain. I am not sure. Chris

That's a food I don't usually eat (even pre-Spark). I recently got the 6 inch turkey bacon avocado that Subway has now. I had it on the 9 grain wheat with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, cucumbers, banana peppers (which pretty closely matches the nutritional information online). I also had fat free raspberry vinaigrette. It tasted really good and the stats were workable!

Even when I was at my heaviest, I never ordered a foot long. That's family size! Now I usually eat half of a 6-inch. I don't get fast-food sandwiches very often, though; IMO they're too expensive and have too many calories for the quality. And even though I'm a big fan of carbs, fast-food sub sandwiches have a LOT of low-nutrient bread. I can run to the grocery store, buy a roll and some meat and cheese at the deli, and make a much nicer sandwich for less. If I'm going to eat out, I want something that's not easy to make myself.

I don't eat either. Way too many carbs and too much sodium in the processed meats. If I had to eat there it would be a salad with grilled chicken and no dressing or cheese (I prefer low sodium salsa as my dressing).

6in turkey and ham with no cheese - I add lettuce, pickles, onion, green pepper, banana pepper, honey mustard, and light mayo. If I'm particularly hungry I'll have a footlong, but not very often. I usually order Jimmy Johns instead :)

I always get a footlong but I will only eat a 1/3 or a 1/2 at a time so I can have chips or cookies

It's different subs for different moods for me and depending on where I'm eating it I might choose the one that is less likely to be messy

At Subway, I always buy the footlong and eat half per meal lol

Usually I'm an Oven Roasted Chicken with Swiss, Spinach, Tomatoes, Lettuce, and Chipotle Sauce on Wheat, type of person. Though I do try out many of their different types - I really do love Subway, even their unhealthy foods (of which they have many more than they used to now).

Only 6 inch - I have a good appetite, but a foot long is too much food! I get turkey on whole wheat/grain, cheese, veggies (lettuce, tomato, peppers), no condiments (as I have never like them).

how many calories do you have for the meal? what subs do you like? how many veggies are you getting on it? do you want another meal for later?

when i hit the local sub shops, i get a 6" or an 8" [those seem to be really popular around here for some reason] veggie and i get it loaded up with veggies. i won't eat at subway because since i stopped eating meat, i had three or four of their veggie subs at three or four different places and spent the next few hours feeling awful in the bathroom with gastric distress. i'm not totally sure what could possibly do that, but i avoid the place all the same now.

I always get a 6 inch Roast Chicken with Shredded Cheese and Bacon. I get this on Whole Wheat Bread toasted with a little bit of lettuce and three cucumbers. I do not use any sauce and I get them to give it a little shake of pepper. I only get a bottle of water if I am eating in and have now gotten away from the meal deal with either cookies or chips.

The nutritional informatino from my food tracker for my Sunway meal is:
Calories: 383
Fat: 12
Carbs: 44
Protein: 27
Fiber: 4
Sodium: 840

It is hard to beleive that I used to eat a foot long Cold Cut Trio with double meat, cheese and no veggies along with two cookies and a pop - sometimes I used to buy extra cookies as well. This was often a "bedtime snack" for me after I got off work at 10pm. I then switched over to a foot long Roast Chicken with Bacon and now I can only eat a six inch Roast Chicken with Bacon.
