one of the advantages of technology is the caller id (or email sent from).
I screen everything.
and if I get an email from some folks who are over the top with their views, I check the email Subject and delete it....(there is a way of blocking people ... if necessary).

life is too short to waste on toxic don't need to constantly hear it..
and as for people who you have to talk to but harp on negative stuff
if I can't make them change the topic (nicely)...then
if I'm on the phone...I take the receiver away from my ear and just keep saying uh huh
or I tell them I need to call them back...then don't.
if I'm face to face...I gotta go, see ya...(be it the rest room, an appointment...anywhere)
cut the conversation
I'm bad...I know....but I'm a survivor emoticon

I usually open my mail, my email right away and answer the phone when it rings.

I have avoided opening mail for a couple of days.
After my mom died I stopped checking my e-mail as frequently. I used to check it daily. I think I went a week or 2 without checking it at one point.
I rarely listen to voicemail. I don't like talking on the phone.

I avoided paying my bills this Friday and decided I was going to do them Saturday evening instead knowing the bills were in mailbox. I wake up Saturday ready to head out for my day and I decide to check mail and open it. I was so happy, I opened it to find out my car and home insurance yearly premium was paid off, and I do not have a payment until June when contract restarts, that bill is about 118.00. I go to thrift shop and find some awesome brand new things one for 90 bucks and one for 20. I save about 90 plus bucks on both and I have two great gifts to give come this Christmas. Even though I had other money I would have not bought these if I didn't have a break on that bill this month. I didn't want to go past my spending quota. I am one happy camper!

I do. I only listen to voicemails once every few months. My peeps know if they have something important to tell me they better text me. I don't like answering the phone either and I will never answer a number this is unavailable or that I don't already have in my contacts!

I certainly do. Sometimes it is too overwhelming. I find that if I break it down and do a little at a time, it helps. I feel like I've accomplished something and it makes it easier for me. Start with a minimal goal and increase it if it feels comfortable to you. Answer one or two calls, open 2 or 3 pieces of mail. Scale back if you need to, and don't be too hard on yourself.

Does anyone else ever avoid opening mail, emails, or listening to voicemails because you know that whatever you will read or hear will either be completely wrong or a lie and you just don't want to deal with it?
How long do you put it off?
