Yes and I don't even call it cheating.

I struggle with allowing a cheat food that fits into my food plan and a cheat food that becomes a runaway train. Some foods for me are just too dangerous right now to try moderation.

Cheat foods for me are better out of the house where I can control the portion.

I love pizza. And if I don't allow myself one slice now and then, I'll just fill that craving with something else and probably overdo it because I'm not satisfying that craving.

Like others, there are no cheat foods for me. If I have a craving for something less healthy, I figure out a way to make it fit in my day. Since I don't like being hungry, and eating healthy keeps me fuller than eating less healthy, I don't ever go overboard.

If I get a craving for something, anything, I find a way to fit it in. Either saving on calories somewhere else or having a smaller portion, but I refuse to tell myself there's something I can't eat. That just makes me want it more! emoticon

Maritimer3 is right - there are no cheat foods. We don't have butter in the house now, but when out we eat a little if it's on the table. It's all about portion control

SP has taught me that there are no foods that I absolutely cannot eat. As long as I stay within my calorie range and keep my carbs, protein and fat within the recommended ranges, I can have any food in moderation. At a BBQ birthday party, I'll have a veggie burger and maybe eat only half the bun so that I can have a little piece of cake. Once in a while I'll have a chocolate, or an ice cream, or a few sweet potato fries. I'm here for the long run... the rest of my life... and that includes special treats and eating out. If I'm over one day, I make sure to get extra exercise and stay right on track the rest of the week. I also watch my salt intake very carefully and make sure that I drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.

Cheat meals definitely do not physically help your weight loss efforts. All the excess calories will be stored as fat. Anyone who thinks that their high metabolic rate or exercising can compensate this, is kidding themself. Adding alcohol to a cheat meal can be even more detrimental as this will cause more calories to be stored as fat.

But there may be a psychological benefit. A cheat meal is like a relief valve for a lot of "dieters."

Dieters is the word I am focusing on.. If you use sparks generated meals- whom said you had to have what stands there? Exchange stuff and make a healthy cake, I don't always feel like bread- so exchange the weight in flour, I don't always feel like eating a whole apple, I have a apple to my cake, my essental fat can be say light mayo the taste and smell burns off in the oven and doesn't go saturated.. I am not to far away from having ingredients to a "1 person" cake..

Picture0006.jpg

Sure if I gun for a regular cake it will blow my calorie range away, but 1 portion or 1 person cake dishes have been invented..

I think it is neat to go to a party with a healthy cake contructed from direct exchanged items preserving meal composition..

30 grams flour and 30 grams light mayo I have a tart base for a sweet or a savory pie..

Are you dieting or making the best of the moderation deal? Moderation sucks but I will take it and use to my advantage..

I try not to think of anything as a "cheat" food. I can eat anything I want, I just need to watch my portions.

Unfortunatley I allow myself too many cheat foods! I need to use some more self control! It is harder for me to resist during the summer because it is so hot out! I love iced drinks and ice cream!

There are no "cheat foods" when you eat in moderation. Just higher calorie foods balanced with lower calorie foods.

No. Never. I'm not on a diet so I'm not cheating if I eat rich food sometimes. It's just part of life.

I also do not consider these items cheat foods. I think of them as foods that I rarely have and will enjoy with gusto when having them. I am trying to find the way to eat and not think that I can never have certain items again.

I don't consider it "cheating" to allow myself a treat every now and then. In the summer it is birthday cake, as most of my family has birthdays between the end of June and the middle of August. I just make sure I just have a taste, and eat a little low fat ice cream with it.

Eating healthy 80% of the time is good enough. It isn't cheating to have a treat occasionally. Now that I'm on maintenance I honestly wish I had had a few more treats while losing. If you do, you have less to learn when you get to maintenance. It has taken me several years to overcome triggers.
