Lots of good advice on this blog! I have the same problem.....lose weight sooooo slowly...I know how hard it is not to get discouraged......but I am trying to stay positive and patient....Hang in there, everyone! We can do it!!

I feel your angst. I have been on a plateau for 3 mos. now. I water walk 3 times a week and have done that consistently for 6 weeks. Even signed up for the next session. I have cheated once a week for the last two weeks but felt awful, couldn't sleep etc. It is worth it. Just stick with it and see how much better you feel all ready.

Thank you everyone for the feedback and for your words of encouragement. I was having a really bad day that day. That morning I had run my butt off on the treadmill and had also gone through a strength training routine where I was sweating and just dead tired only to later see that I hadn't lost anything again that week. It was just heart breaking to be putting in so much work to not see the rewards.
I realize that it takes time but the deflated feeling could not be helped. I hope to shake this feeling soon!

KELLY8899 - I'm in exactly the same boat - 2 weeks with no loss at all. It's a real battle not to get discouraged, but when I step back and think about what I'd want to do if I threw in the towel, I realize that I want to continue exactly like I've been doing since being on SP. The food I'm eating is actually tastier and more satisfying than any other "diet" I've ever been on, in fact, probably tastier and more satisfying than times I wasn't dieting and was gaining at an alarming rate. I know that what I'm doing will work in the long run. It worked for over three months and my body didn't magically go thru some transformation since that time. I suspect it has something to do with retained bodily fluids, and I'm also confident I'll see the results sometime if I just hold steady the course. I hope you do too. Let us know when the scale budges again. We're all pulling for you!
Plateaus are normal, stay the course and the weight will come off. Don't let the scales control you, how you feel, measurements etc. also need to be checked and you may find that it's better than you think.

Don't panic !! What you're experiencing IS perfectly normal. While a safe weekly weight loss would be 1-2 pounds per week, there will be weeks you don't lose. there will even be weeks you GAIN. And that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. the weight doesn't magically drop off the minute we decide we need to lose. Don't compare your loss to those on the Biggest Loser. those types of dramatic losses really aren't typical.
Don't assume something is wrong because the weight isn't coming off as fast as you'd like. As the old song goes,"accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative". give yourself credit for all the POSITIVE things you've been doing for yourself and don't beat yourself up because the weight isn't coming off as fast as you want.
You didn't gain the weight overnight. it's not coming off overnight. You really do have to be more patient with yourself and your body. Don't worry, you really are doing just fine.

You have lost 14 pounds and done things right 98% of the time by your own account... Why give up now?? Remember that we are talking about a human body here and not a robot who can be programmed to do things consistently and give the same result each time that is expected from it. Your body is constantly at work here, trying to adjust to the food you have been giving it, the exercise you are putting it through, all the while trying to keep things in balance and let go of the fat and still maintaining all the body functions. Your body is doing a lot for you and in return, you have to treat it respectfully and with patience. Some weeks, you will lose weight, especially when you start at first, then it slows down a little, you will see some weeks with no weight loss at all. But in the meantime you may have noticed increased energy levels, clothes fitting better and your general outlook towards life may have infact improved. All these are signs of success too. Not just the number on the scale. It is important to see that number go down as well but is not the only measure of success. There are so many reasons why the weight may stall every now and then. It may be temporary water retention, if you are closer to your ideal body weight now, it will be harder to lose weight and also if you are doing the same exercise for a while. Shake it up a little, try a different type of exercise, pay attention to portion sizes, dont stress about the weight, be cheerful and see the number on the scale change when the body decides to let go of it.

Congrats on losing 14 lbs. That's awesome! You know you are doing what is right, so are you seriously going to give it all up because of the scale?! Every time you eat right and every time you sweat, you know you are doing what is good for your body. There are benefits beyond the number between your toes! Trust the process.
P.S. Don't be surprised if a week or two of no weight loss is followed by a bigger-than-normal loss in the near future. If you stick with it, it will catch up with itself. If you quit, you'll never know!

Help!! Desperate need of support and motivation! things have been going relatively well in that I had lost 14 lbs. since May 27, but not single pound lost in the last two weeks!! Uggghh!!! 98% of the time I have stuck to my calorie restrictions and the times that I haven't it wasn't over by a lot. The MOST was 200 calories on one weekend day and 10 here or there. With that said, I ALWAYS burn over the recommended calorie amounts and fitness minutes. The recommended for the week is 750, I am usually in the 1000 area. WHY am I not losing for two weeks?? I am ready to just hang it up. All the sweat, sore legs, sore arms and time and effort put in and I am in the worse mood of my life after todays weigh in!! :(
