Her story is also about adapting to the surroundings.....if it doesn't work the first time, find another way to make it work and go for it.

I found myself more touched and inspired by her accomplishment than I would have predicted. She is a great role model for all of us.

I was so happy for her! What an inspiration. This is why I keep exercising. I want to be able to do what I love for as long as I can.

I am so happy for Diana Nyad. Her determination to succeed that task was remarkable. emoticon I'm going to make it a point to get back in the water.

I am a distance swimmer (although 2 or 3 miles at a time doesn't sound like much compared to what she has done!) and she has been a hero of mine for a long time.

The fact that she finally succeeded doesn't change anything for me--it was the trying that mattered.

I loved her radio show on NPR too, the Savvy Traveler.

Dances: salsa (standard/LA), casino, rueda de casino, cumbia Colombiana, cumba Mexicana, bachata, mambo, cha-cha-chá, merengue, reggaetón.

Dances to Learn in the future: flamenco, tango Argentino, samba, belly dancing, bhangra, danzón, Cuban rumba, ballroom rumba

quite possibly the most motivating story of the year as far as accomplishing your goals and never giving up. I'm so happy for her!

Incredible....amazing.....awesome. One report (Al Roker I think) said she finished with the same stroke rate as she began. Wow! after 53 hours in the water....impressive.

I so like this. She couldn't succeed at 28 but did at 64.

She learned from her mistakes and it made her better the next time around

Diana never gave up it took her 30 plus years to swim from Cuba to Florida but she did it! We can all learn a lesson from her persistance, it might take us a while but we'll get to our goal. If we don't succeed the first time we try, 2nd or 11th in the end we will succeed cause we want it bad enough.
We can all do this, just like she attained her dream we will too!
