I am in the same boat. I bought myself some running shoes and the new issue of Runner's World Magazine. The January issue has some good articles.

Like some others have suggested I am starting off alternating walking and running. I have set myself a goal of running on a 5k in March. That should give me a little extra motivation.

I look forward to sharing some good stories

You could try the couch to 5k program. You walk for a few minutes, then jog for one and so on until in a couple of months you're jogging for 30 min. Also, clear it with your dr if you have health issues.

I Have this strong desire to jog. I am 194 pounds, 48 Years of age, Hypertensive and most of my weight is in the stomach area and hips. I get short of breath at times exercising due to my weight which i have never gone this high before. I really want to start jogging. What should i do as a beginner without feeling afraid i might pass out. Any tips. Thanks!!
