When you go out for dinner, try only ordering a couple of appetizers instead of whole meals. I love the picnic idea. I've made healthy and low-calorie foods and packed them up with a bottle of wine and taken my husband to a special place by where we live. We spend quality time together without the TV or something we are obligated to do.

If you can afford it, spend a night at a local hotel and relax around the pool or hot tub (a mini-vacation away from home).

Instead of a movie, take in a theatre production -- most of these don't offer noisy popcorn or food options for when the show is going on.

do you have any museums in your area? Many offer summer specials.

One of them in our area has a 'martinis & Imax' feature.

And the High Museum in Atlanta has all kinds of cool stuff in the summer. We loved the "Van Gogh All Night" exhibit (they stayed open around the clock).

there is also a wonderful botanical garden

if you aren't really sure what's available in your area, check the local CVB site (convention & visitor's bureau). I had no idea of all the 'touristy' things. I've lived here all my life, and I just don't think about it!

Eat at home, then do something out. Museums, movies, nice walking path, concerts, etc.

Do something that's not eating. My town sponsors free outdoor concerts several nights a week; maybe there's something similar where you live. Take an evening walk through your neighborhood. Have a healthy dinner at home and go out afterwards for coffee. Break out the board games and play Monopoly or Scrabble. Go bowling! There are lots of possibilities that don't involve food.

Just did something like that; we got dressed up and had a great healthy home cooked meal and then went to the city and saw a movie, I was too still full at the time we entered the theater and so I skipped the USUAL popcorn.

I enjoy (this time of year) going to the State Fair and walking around. I make sure we avoid the deep fried insanity. We get lots of exercise and have fun people-watching!

I love the picnic idea also. In addition to that a great treat is homemade chocolate covered strawberries. 3 is like 34 if you use single dipped and ghirardelli 60% cacao. We have friday night party "in" we make all kinds of great stuff, and track it all.

Been married almost 18 years. We hold Friday Night as a special night to go out and enjoy each others company with a great meal. Unfortunately, these become cheat sessions. I lose ALL my progress of the week, as it does NOT balance out. I need ideas for going out and not losing control and losing all my progress. Any ideas?
