Hey April! I should've known that you'd send the hubby in! HA! emoticon My hubby is too afraid! Can you say "chicken"?!?! Tee Hee! I figure that if I have given birth 4 times "naturally" with no pain medication whatsoever, then this procedure should be a "walk in the park". Right?!? My hubby is a WIMP, but you didn't hear it from me! emoticon

Hey, All! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! I have really struggled with trying to lose weight after having our 4th daughter ... and then a battle with depression, so I wanted to be certain that this procedure would not cause a major weight gain. I'll talk with my OB/GYN too for her opinion, but I thought maybe I'd get more 'uncensored' answers from people who have actually been through it! Thanks a bunch!!!

Hi all,
I just had my tubes tied in March(6 months after my last baby was born)and I've lost 16.5 lbs since then. Also, my best friend had her's done a few years ago and didn't gain any weight. I think if you're sitting around after the surgery eating whatever you like and not watching calories, of course you're going to gain but I don't think the surgery itself with cause weightgain. Good luck to you:)

My mom had her tubes tied and didnt weigh more than 100lbs her whole adult life untill about 2 years ago. Maybe your friend was depressed after she got it done and started to gain weight. -Kady emoticon

Daneene, I had my tubes tied during my c-section when my twins were born. I lost probably about 15 pounds within the next couple of months. I think it may just depend on the person but I don't think it's a side effect. You might just want to ask your doctor about it too. Kaylene

Hi Ladies,
I just had tubal ligation done after my last child that was born 5 months ago. Since the birth and the procedure I have lost 46 pounds. So personally I would say that gaining weight after tubal ligation would be a myth or perhaps it just depends on the person. Hope that helps.
Jill

I am interested in the answer to this one also. Have the same feelings on having it done. Good Luck on it if you do.

Hi, all! This may seem to be a silly question, but does a tubal ligation (when a woman gets her "tubes tied") cause you to gain weight? I am very interested in having the procedure done as a permanent birth control measure, but a friend of mine who did SWEARS that as soon as she had it done, she gained almost 50 pounds very quickly ... Any of you out there who have had the procedure done with no negative affects?!?!? THANKS A BUNCH!
