I was in Walmart and holding a shake weight. I was looking at the pictures on the box and felt like that. It is almost like the makers do this on purpose

The one I got twenty years ago was great. You could fold it up and store it under a bed. I wonder if that is still an option?

I would never have survived snow shoveling this winter if I hadn't been working out with the Total Gym.

I'd love to have a Total Gym, don't think I have room for it, though, as I'd want it to sit out all the time.

LOL !!

I missed out on the Hawaii Chair late night infomercial. Guess I wasn't up late enough.

Since we are on the topic of crazy fitness machines. Here's a short film from 1945. This is what our grandmas did to be fit !! Looks like they had their own version of the Korean riding machine.

I have seen the commercial for the Hawaii Chair. Why is the craziest products seem so suggestive? Especially the thigh master.

That one is about as bad as the horseback riding chair

Does anyone remember the "Hawaii chair?"

I think Ellen bought a couple of them and had them on her show. She couldn't stop laughing.

I love my TOTAL GYM and use it. It was also part of my physical therapy at the therapist when I had arthroscopy on my knee. I have an upscale model that folds. Great for strength training.

That being said...I remember something called a Relax-a-Cizor . The Relaxacizor device provided electrical currents which cause intermittent contraction of the muscles beneath the skin area to which the pads of the device are applied. (A little link a tens unit). Sued by the US and taken off the market.

We had an Aeroboglide. What a waste of $100. Riding on it was about as suggestive as riding the Korean Horse, in one the links.

I have a nice recumbent cycle machine for winter (and ride it every day). Some exercise bands, a yoga mat and a Ball (which my grandson plays with and I fall off of). I have just gotten a board with two heights for doing some exercises the P/T woman suggested. I think I will use it , just got it 2 days ago. I have a couple yoga videos and a band workout video. I have a WiFit but it takes too long of breaks in between exercises so it isn't much help. We have a bowflex treadmill that I don't use, and a complete rehab gym in the garage which is where my husband hangs hoses and stuff and is surrounded by his multitude of junk so you can't even get to it. I would use it if he ever cleaned the garage (highly unlikely). I have a regular mountain bike which is hanging from the ceiling out there, too, I(f he ever gets it down). I only used the gym twice before he blocked access. BTW it is a 3 car garage!

I had a thighmaster once and one of those tables that is supposed to help abs but just took up space. Total wastes of money. I probably bought a few other stupid things in my life, but I can barely remember what I had for dinner last night. LOL

My health coach told me those sauna suits were useless and can cause dangerous dehydration.

JoyceCain, I love the Total Gym/ Dyna Gym. My dad bought one back in the 90's and that thing is still going strong. Even though I am the only one that uses it.

The economy is picking back up, consumer confidence is increasing and this pushes companies to develop products that will separate people from the dollars that they are willing to spend. People want to invest in themselves, but they don't want to work to reach their goals. They are not buying a product, they're buying into the idea that they can get what they want with no effort.

I have never bought any of those stupid things. I did buy a Dyna Gym back in the late 70's. Jane Powell the actress demonstrated it. I loved that contraption. Yes it really work. But I moved and it got left behind, I could've killed my husband. Anyways the dyna gym was redone and is now the Total Gym. Yes, same machine. I used that thing for 6 years, I was tone and slim. If I had the money, I had thought about the total gym, only I envision my knees breaking going or sliding down.

The Korean Horse thing, the shake weight and the free flexor all seem a bit suggestive.

Because if you try to ride a horse in your living room. You're going to fall down. LOL!

Good point about Everlast.

I remember when I was a lot younger. There was this thing called a relaxisizer. It was supposed to jiggle your fat into submission.

The newer version is where you put a belt on and it shocks your fat away.

I'm 67, been seeing this kind of junk being peddled for years and years, oh goodness!! And, when they pay off some celeb, you really know it's fake......lol. They have fitness models do the ads, and then they "know", some poor really overweight person will buy the stuff, dreaming of exercising all those years of fat away in 2 months or so. Just like supplements and those stupid anti-toxin drinks, ridiculous and yet, there will always be fools who will buy the stuff. It's been that way as long as I can remember. When I was 12 1/2, an aunt bought me Metrecal, that powder you mixed with water and drank for a meal, just putrid stuff, but I tried it for several weeks. They had "cookies", tasted like old pieces of string mixed in with pasty dough, yuck!! And on and on...........there is someone reading right now, who will still buy some junk sold in a magazine or whatever though. Desperation does that to a person.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

I understand why Everlast makes them, boxing company wants to sell things that will help boxers do what they want: cut weight quickly before a match. If boxers/wrestlers/rowers didn't have access to sauna suits, they'd just run around in trash bags to cut water weight.

For whatever reason I've been noticing an uptick in gimicky tummy shrinkers recently. Any thoughts why?

ANAMORPHOSIS Posts: 1,617

That is nuts. What people will do to avoid good old-fashioned diet and exercise. How could they not know that a sauna suit will make you lose only water weight?

Looked again, that is definitely two different woman.

I was watching with my mom and I stood up and puffed out my stomach. I said, before the tummy tuck belt. Then I sucked it in. After the tummy tuck belt.

The sauna suit gets me too. Britney Spears was recently photographed wearing one. So now her fans will probably run out and buy one. The correspondent even asked "Aren't those dangerous?"

Everlast also makes a sauna suit. Which lowers them in my opinion. I thought they were a good company

I want to know why sauna suits are still being bought and sold. Don't people realize that these can be very dangerous as they inhibit proper cooling of the body ?
