I guess if you can do a 3 minute plank - you probably have good core strength, but the test seems a little over simplified. Either you pass or your fail. I guess regardless of whether you pass or not, if you're interested in having (or keeping) a strong core you need to work it. I know when I have put a lot of energy in working my core I notice it myself in improved posture and reduced lower back pain. So I guess, for me at least, regardless of whether I pass or fail the test the proof is in how I look and feel - and even if I do pass - that doesn't meant that I don't need to continue to work my core to keep it strong.

FIELDWORKING: Wow! That is quite a test. Three minutes of planks without rest would not be easy. I shall give that test a try, although I hate doing planks. Frankly, I might question this quote a bit: "If you can not complete the test fully, your core strength needs improvement." -- Brian Mackenzie. There may be people who can't complete the test fully, but yet have good core strength, in my opinion. I will have my wife time me.
I quit doing planks years ago, because I felt they were a waste of time. However, I am a big proponent of using hanging ab straps/sleeves, and most people think they are a waste of time. I am thinking the balance part will be difficult for me when I have to plank on just one arm. Now, if there were money involved or a contest with relatives, I might pass the test. LOL! Well, let's see. Can I plank for 3 minutes straight? Hmmmmmm....I would bet against it.
SPARK_COACH_JEN: I will also give that test a try. Again, I shall need my wife's assistance. I am wondering if 6" is the same difficulty level for all people regardless of height, age, weight, and gender. I haven't done crunches for several years either.
I hope I don't get two F's on my report card.

I came across a link (see below) that talks about how to test your core muscle strength and stability. I am curious to know what y'all (yes, I'm southern and I say y'all) think about it. Do you agree or disagree? Are there better ways to test your core muscle strength and stability?
I am pretty sure that I couldn't complete the test, especially since I can't stay in the plank position for a full 60 seconds.
